South Carolina adds portal all-AAC hitter

South Carolina isn’t done in the transfer portal, adding a piece Wednesday night.

The Gamecocks picked up a public commitment from corner infielder/outfielder Jacob Compton.

Compton, who transferred from junior college, started his career at Memphis and was an all-conference hitter this season.

The left-handed bat started 53 games this year slashing .291/365/.540 with 11 home runs and 56 RBI. He becomes the fourth offensive portal addition this offseason, joining Dylan Brewer, Chris Veach and Jonathan French.

French committed earlier Wednesday to the Gamecocks.
