South Carolina softball earns transfer portal commitment from former Florida infielder

Hovermale has spent the last two seasons with the Gators. She is a career .263 hitter (5-19) with five RBIs and three walks across 18 appearances, including two starts. She did not earn much time on the diamond in 2025, though, playing in just two regular season games: a Feb. 8 contest against Michigan and a Feb. 14 matchup against Providence. Still, Hovermale was productive in limited at bats, as she went 1-2 at the plate, with her lone hit coming against the Wolverines.
A native of Norco, Calif., she received numerous accolades as a senior at Norco High School, where she made the Los Angeles Times All-Star team, in addition to picking up Cal-Hi Sports All-State First Team and SBLive California All-State Second Team honors.

Hovermale joins Mississippi State right-handed pitcher Josey Marron, NC State outfielder Tori Ensley and Ole Miss infielder Tate Davis as the Gamecocks’ transfer commitments thus far in the offseason.
The NCAA transfer portal window for softball opened on May 18 and will remain open until June 16. Graduate students, though, can enter the portal at any time.
