Despite not hearing his name called this weekend during the draft, the dreams of playing in the NFL aren’t over yet for former South Carolina do-it-all star Dakereon Joyner.

Joyner informed GamecockCentral that following the conclusion of Saturday’s draft, the Seattle Seahawks invited him to rookie mini camp. On Sunday, Joyner also told GamecockCentral that he’s been invited to rookie mini camp by the New Orleans Saints.

Originally recruited to play quarterback, Joyner was a four-star recruit out of Fort Dorchester (North Charleston, SC). Considered the fourth top prospect from the Palmetto State for the 2018 class, he was considered the 229th overall recruit in the country. After primarily working with the quarterbacks in his first two seasons, Joyner started working more as a wide receiver in 2020. Ahead of the 2023 season, he switched positions again to help USC’s thin running back room.

During his six years as a Gamecock, Joyner complied 1983 all-purpose yards including 430 passing yards, 445 rushing yards, and 559 receiving yards. He also scored 11 touchdowns, which includes throwing for a pair, and was named MVP of the 2022 Duke’s Mayo Bowl.
