Former Tennessee WR Nathan Leacock transfers for second time this offseason

Former Tennessee wide receiver Nathan Leacock is on the move again, committing to North Carolina after reentering the NCAA Transfer Portal this spring. Leacock left the Vols during the December portal window, signed with Purdue in January and went through spring practice with the Boilermakers.

Last season Leacock caught one pass for 13 yards in the Tennessee the season-opening win over Chattanooga on August 31. It was his only catch of the season while appearing in five games, after appearing in just one game as a freshman in 2023.

Leacock was a four-star prospect in the class of 2023. He was ranked No. 75 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the No. 12 wide receiver in the country and the No. 3 player in the state of North Carolina, out of Millbrook High School in Raleigh. 

Six Tennessee wide receivers transferred during offseason

He was one of five Tennessee wide receives that transferred out of step program, along with Nate Spillman (Charlotte), Squirrel White (Florida State), Chas Nimrod (South Florida), Kaleb Webb (Maryland) and Dayton Sneed (North Carolina). 

White over the last three seasons caught 131 passes for 1,665 yards and six touchdowns. In 13 games last season he caught 34 passes for 381 yards and two touchdowns, down from 67 catches for 803 yards and two touchdowns as a sophomore in 2023. He caught 30 passes for 481 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman in 2022.  

Nimrod, another redshirt sophomore wide receiver, caught 10 passes for 121 yards in 12 games this season, recording season highs with three catches for 45 yards in Tennessee’s win over Kentucky on November 2. He had two catches for 34 yards against Kent State and combined for three catches for 29 yards against Arkansas and Florida. He caught 19 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown in 13 games last season. 

Kaleb Webb committed to Wake Forest, signed with Maryland

Last season Webb caught six passes while appearing in seven games. He had 48 reaching yards, with a long of 13. Last season Webb caught 16 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown while appearing in 13 games. He played in three games as a true freshman in 2022. 

Webb initially announced his commitment to Wake Forest out of the transfer portal, but later signed with Maryland after former Wake head coach Dave Clawson retired. 

Webb was a four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. He was ranked No. 217 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking, was the No. 38 wide receiver in the class and the No. 24 overall prospect in the state of Georgia, out of McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Ga.
