Who Tennessee's Rick Barnes was watching during the start of the live evaluation period

The first of two live evaluation periods for college basketball coaches is taking place this weekend, with Rick Barnes and his Tennessee coaching staff on the road watching prospects.

Barnes on Thursday and Friday was courtside for five-star shooting guard Caleb Holt, four-star small forward Bo Ogden and four-star power forward Latrell Almond while the Vols had two assistant coaches watching four-star small forwards Chris Washington Jr. and Gage Mayfield at the Adidas 3SSB event in Georgia. 

The current live evaluation period runs through Sunday, with the second live evaluation period beginning Thursday and running through next Sunday. Recruiting dead periods are Monday-Wednesday this week, then July 20 through August 2 and August 20-31.  

Caleb Holt

Caleb Holt is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound five-star shooting guard and Huntsville, Ala., native, who attends Prolific Prep in California. He’s the No. 4 overall prospect in the 2026 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He’s the No. 1 shooting guard in the class and the No. 4 overall player in the state of California. 

Bo Ogden

Bo Ogden is a 6-foot-5, 180-pound small forward and is the son of former Tennessee Basketball assistant coach Chris Ogden. Bo Ogden, out of Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, is a four-star prospect in the 2026 class, ranked No. 47 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking. He’s the No. 16 small forward in the country and the No. 4 overall prospect in the state of Texas. Chris Ogden played for and later worked for Barnes at Texas and was on the Tennessee staff in 2015-16, the first season of the Barnes era at Texas. He’s now the general manager for the Texas men’s basketball program.

Latrell Allmond

Latrell Allmond is a 6-foot-8, 225-pound power forward out of Richmond, Va. The four-star prospect is ranked No. 27 nationally in the On3 Industry Ranking, is the No. 3 power forward in the country and the No. 2 prospect in the state of Virginia. Allmond took an unofficial visit to Tennessee in September. 

Chris Washington

Chris Washington is an in-state four-star small forward in the 2026 class, ranked No. 23 nationally. He’s the No. 9 small forward in the class and is the No. 1 overall player in the state of Tennessee, out of Providence Christian Academy in Murfreesboro. Washington took an unofficial visit to Tennessee in November. 

Gage Mayfield

Gage Mayfield is a four-star prospect in the 2026 class, ranked No. 88 overall in the On3 ratings. The 6-foot-7, 190-pound small forward, out of Moundville, Ala., is the No. 31 small forward in the country and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Alabama. Mayfield took an official visit to Tennessee in June and has an official planned for Florida State in August.
