Oregon transfer wide receiver Dont’e Thornton made his way to Knoxville this past weekend, to see what the Vols had in store as he works himself throughout the transfer process of trying to find a new home.

After leaving campus Sunday, the 6-foot-5, 200 pounder announced he will make his commitment known Monday at 1pm ET.

Thornton reeled in 17 receptions for 366 yards and a touchdown this past season on the gridiron. In 2021, the wideout started two games and recorded nine catches for 175 yards with two scores. He’s taken several visits this go-around and has been in no hurry to date. Miami, Arkansas and Auburn are the other programs in the mix to land Thornton.

2021, starting twice and ending with 9 catches for 175 yards and 2 TDs. Then this season he had 17 catches for 366 yards with a TD.

Thornton, out of Mount Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore, Maryland, was a four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. He was ranked No. 71 overall in the On3 Consensus and was ranked 10th nationally among wide receivers. He was the No. 3 overall prospect out of the state of Maryland.

Omar Norman-Lott details Tennessee official visit

Another transfer target in town the past few days was Arizona State transfer defensive lineman Omar Norman-Lott. The 6-foot-3, 290-pound defender was a part-time starter for Sun Devils this past season, finishing with 44 tackles and seven TFLs the past two seasons.

The transfer has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

“This weekend was great. No complaints,” Norman-Lott said when leaving town Sunday afternoon. “It was nothing I thought it would be as this was my first time being in the East. It was better.

“I liked the massive facility and the trueness of the coaching staff. Asking them questions and getting a lot of feedback – they were giving me a lot of truth.”

Tennessee defensive line coach Rodney Garner has had his eye on Norman-Lott for a while now. While on the road last month, Garner stopped by to see the defensive lineman.

“He reminds me a lot of my grandfather and I have a lot of respect for him,” the transfer target said of Garner. “He’s a wise man and has coached a lot of NFL guys. He knows what he is talking about.”
