2024 Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Northridge four-star safety Travaris Banks plans to take multiple visits in January, including a stop in Knoxville on January 14th for Tennessee’s first Junior day of the year.

The visit will mark Banks’s second trip to Rocky Top since Josh Heupel’s staff took over. He was most recently in town when the Vols defeated Florida 38-33 in September.

“That was probably the loudest game I have ever been to,” Banks said of that visit. “The crowd was loud the entire game. I really liked it a lot. The fans were just really engaged in the game, so that is what I liked the most about it.”

Since the visit, Banks says he has frequently communicated with the Tennessee staff.

“I talk to Coach Tim Banks a lot,” the four-star safety said. “I talk to coach Chop a lot, too. They are great guys to communicate with and be recruited by. They are really down-to-earth and approachable people, so I like that a lot.”

Tennessee has told the 6-1, 185-pound prospect they see him playing a safety role in their defense.

“They see me at safety,” Banks said. “I see the fit with the type of very aggressive defense they are. They are sound, disciplined and well-coached.”

So coming into his second trip to Knoxville, is there anything the four-star product feels like he has to see for the Vols to be in this recruitment long-term?

“Not much, really,” Banks said about what he needed to see. “They are already a contender because I like their program a lot. So, they are already a contender for me. I really just want to see if the relationship is what I think it is and if our bond and communication are there.”

Banks plans to commit on June 23rd to honor his late cousin, so as he gets out on this slate of visits, he will be focused on separating schools along the way.

“The chance to get early playing time as a freshman and getting the best development and coaching I can get,” Banks said on what will factor into his decision.

Banks, who holds ten offers, including Alabama, Ole Miss, Florida State, and Auburn, among others, ranks as the 192nd overall prospect, 16th safety, and 10th overall prospect from the state of Alabama, according to On3.
