Elite 2025 EDGE Jared Smith with new plans, will visit USC
A new visitor for this upcoming weekend has emerged for the USC Trojans, On3’s Chad Simmons reported Wednesday morning. Hoover (Ala.) Thompson four-star EDGE Jared Smith has reportedly canceled a separate visit and will now instead make his way to Los Angeles to visit USC.
Smith is the No. 48 overall prospect and No. 5 EDGE in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 4 player in Alabama.
Smith, 6-foot-6, 230-pounds, is also as high as No. 11 overall by one of the four major recruiting services.
He will make his way to USC after canceling a previously scheduled visit to Florida State. It will be his first visit out west. The news will give fans a good indication of how the defensive staff is finding their way on the recruiting trail.
It’s been an SEC-heavy push for the 6-foot-6, 230-pounder thus far. He’s taken trips to the likes of Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, South Carolina, Ole Miss and more. Now the USC Trojans will get their first crack at him.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Georgia Bulldogs as the favorite to land a commitment from Smith at 42.7%. Alabama comes in at second place with 15.4% odds.

The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
