California Golden Bears cornerback Collin Gamble has entered the Transfer Portal.

Collin Gamble missed the 2023 for Cal with an injury. However, head coach Justin Wilcox and the Cal program never announced the exact nature of his injury.

Including that 2023 season, Gamble spent four seasons with Cal. That includes the shortened 2020 season, where he only played in three games. By his sophomore season, he became a key member of the team’s secondary. He later started the first eight games of the 2022 season before his year was cut short due to an injury.

Collin Gamble played high school football at Liberty Christian (Texas), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 584 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

During his time with Cal, Collin Gamble made 63 career total tackles, of which six were tackles for a loss and one was a sack. He also had an interception, forced a fumble, and defended eight passes. In 2021, he was also seen returning kicks for the Golden Bears.

This decision comes as the Cal Golden Bears are preparing to change conferences, from the Pac-12 to the ACC.

The Cal Golden Bears in the Transfer Portal

This offseason is one filled with change for Cal, given that the team is moving from a conference based on the west coast to one based on the east coast. With that, head coach Justin Wilcox has been active in using the Transfer Portal.

To this point, Cal has the eighth-ranked Transfer Portal class in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. Within that class, 17 players have transferred out from the team while 13 players are coming into the team.

Among the transfers into the program are six transfers from power conference schools, including two former Notre Dame players in wide receiver Tobias Merriweather and defensive lineman Aidan Keanaaina. On top of that, the Golden Bears have added four players from the Group of Five and four from the FCS ranks.

Meanwhile, among the players Cal has lost to the Transfer Portal, four have currently committed to transfer to power conference teams.
