Here are the On3 transfer players of the week for Week 6 of the season.

We pick a transfer of the week in each Power 5 conference as well as an overall Group of 5 transfer of the week. It’s not just transfers from this past offseason; all players who have transferred from other four-year schools are eligible to be selected

Everything being equal, more weight is given to big performances against “good” opponents.

ACC

LB Tatum Bethune, Florida State
The buzz: Florida State lost 19-17 to NC State, its second loss in a row, but it certainly was not the defense’s fault. NCSU managed just 307 yards of offense, but its defense held FSU’s offense scoreless in the second half. Bethune, who transferred from UCF following last season, led FSU with 14 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss. FSU held the Wolfpack to 4.4 yards per play and 2-of-13 on third down.

Big Ten

RB Chase Brown, Illinois
The buzz:
Brown rumbled for 146 yards on 31 carries as the Fighting Illini slogged past Iowa 9-6 in a game that featured zero touchdowns. He also had 17 yards on four receptions. Illinois finished with 316 yards of offense, so Brown accounted for 52 percent of the offense. Brown, who transferred from Western Michigan after the 2018 season, went into the game leading the nation with 733 rushing yards. He has hit the 100-yard mark in all six games this season and in seven games in a row; he also has reached that plateau 10 times in his past 13 games.

Big 12

QB Quinn Ewers, Texas
The buzz:
Ewers, who transferred from Ohio State in the offseason, had played in just five quarters this season entering Saturday’s Red River Showdown. But he returned from injury in a big way, throwing for 289 yards and four TDs as Texas mauled Oklahoma 49-0. Ewers threw three TD passes in the second quarter for a 28-0 halftime lead, then added another in the third period for a 42-0 lead. He completed 14 of his first 16 passes, and his first two TD tosses were in that span.

Pac-12

RB Zach Charbonnet, UCLA
The buzz:
Maybe it’s time to take UCLA seriously as a Pac-12 title contender. The Bruins got a big game from Charbonnet as they rolled to a 42-32 win over Utah in a game that was not as close as the final score would indicate. Charbonnet began his career at Michigan before transferring to UCLA following the 2020 season. He ran for a career-high 191 yards and a TD for the Bruins against the Utes. While his TD was a 1-yard run that closed out UCLA’s scoring, he did a ton of damage before that for the Bruins, averaging 9.0 yards per carry. It was his fourth 100-yard outing of the season and his 11th in 17 games with the Bruins.

SEC

QB Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss
The buzz:
Dart, who transferred from USC after last season, frankly had been a bit underwhelming through the first five games. But he had a huge game as the Rebels ran away from Vanderbilt 52-28. Dart had thrown for 910 yards and five TDs going into Saturday’s game; he torched Vandy for 448 yards and three touchdowns. He threw a 61-yard TD pass to Jordan Watkins in the second quarter, then tossed 71- and 72-yarders to Jonathan Mingo in the second half. Vandy led 20-10 late in the first half before Dart led Ole Miss on five consecutive touchdown drives.

Group of 5

S Tory Spears, Texas State
The buzz:
Spears played a critical role as Texas State – a 19-point underdog – stunned Appalachian State 36-24 in a Sun Belt Conference game. Spears, who began his career at Iowa State as a wide receiver in 2018, had a 94-yard pick-six early in the third quarter for a 30-3 lead. He also led the Bobcats with 12 tackles and added a pass breakup. Spears, a Houston native, moved to safety at Iowa State in 2019, then transferred to Texas State after the season. He went into the game with 16 tackles this season.
