Alabama defensive line transfer Isaiah Hastings has backed off his commitment to Missouri, he announced on Monday afternoon. Hastings had committed to the Tigers just under a week ago but will reopen his NCAA transfer portal recruitment.

“After careful consideration I’ll be decommiting from The University of Missouri,” Hastings said via X. “Thank you to Coach Drinkwitz and Coach Peoples for recruiting me and the whole Mizzou staff.”

The decommitment from Hastings comes off the backs of Missouri’s Kevin Peoples reportedly heading to LSU to join Brian Kelly’s staff. LSU has hired Blake Baker to be the program’s next defensive coordinator and decided to bring Peoples along with him.

Unfortunately, it will hurt Missouri and put a quality SEC defensive lineman back on the market.

Hastings played high school football at Toronto (Ontario, Canada) Clearwater Academy International, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 151 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
