Former Miami and Missouri quarterback Jake Garcia will transfer to play for East Carolina. He spent this past season with the Tigers after playing his first two years with the Hurricanes.

Garcia did not appear in any games at Missouri as he was behind Brady Cook and Sam Horn on the depth chart. At Miami, Garcia played in nine total games with one start across his career. His best season came as a sophomore in 2022 when he finished 68-of-115 passing for 803 yards and five touchdowns.

As a recruit, Garcia was a four-star prospect out of Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. He ranked as the No. 53 overall player and No. 10 quarterback in the 2021 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Jake Garcia ranks as the No. 748 overall player according to On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings. He joins Michigan State transfer Katin Houser on the roster with the two likely to compete for the Pirates’ starting job in 2024.
