According to Matt Zenitz of On3, Florida Gators wide receiver Trent Whittemore has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal. While the window does not open until Dec. 4, Whittemore is able to enter as a graduate student. Whittemore announced his intentions on Monday.

Dan Mullen originally brought the wide receiver to Gainesville, spending three seasons with him. However, this was not able to kick off the right way under new head coach Billy Napier, only having four receptions for 87 yards in 2022.

Whittemore saw more success when Mullen was in charge, having 29 catches for 338 yards and two touchdowns during the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

As a recruit, Whittemore was a three-star prospect. The On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting services had him as the No. 105 wide receiver in the 2019 class and No. 92 in the state of Florida.

Whittemore announced the transfer on his Twitter account, tweeting a graphic.

“I’ve been a Gator for as long as I can remember. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have played for the University of Florida and earned my degree,” Whittemore wrote. “Thanks to Coach (Jim) McElwain, Coach (Dan) Mullen, and Coach (Billy) Napier for their parts in my journey. A special thanks to Coach (Billy) Gonzales, Coach [Keary Colbert], and Coach (Nick) Savage for all they poured into me. Most of all I appreciate the relationships built and time spent with my teammates. It’s the friendships and memories that I will treasure most.

“With that being said, I have now entered the transfer portal as a graduate student.”

Whittemore battled injuries during his time at Florida, including a punctured lung at one point.
