Former Texas safety Jalen Catalon has committed to UNLV, he announced via X on Saturday. Catalon has just wrapped up his second time going through the process, with the Rebels being his third team. Even so, a huge pickup for head coach Barry Odom.

Catalon began his career at Arkansas and instantly turned into a star. However, injuries have consistently been the story with the defensive back, struggling to stay on the field. Arguably one of the more talented players in the country, getting hurt has hampered Catalon’s career.

This past season at Texas, Catalon played in just eight games. Catalon recorded 17 tackles and one tackle for a loss. He was not able to record a pass breakup though, not recording any statistics when dropping into coverage.

Catalon played his high school football at Mansfield (TX) High School, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 262 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
