Former USC and Auburn edge rusher Romello Height has committed to Georgia Tech, he announced on social media on Friday. He will have multiple years of eligibility remaining.

Injuries have been the issue for Height during his career, as a season-ending injury in 2022 meant he played just two games at USC, his first season there. He had played the 2021 season at Auburn after redshirting in 2020.

In 2023, his first full season at USC, Height played in 12 games and recorded 21 total tackles, including four sacks. He also recovered a fumble.

Height played high school football at Dublin (Ga.) High School, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 347 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Height was considering going to Miami, a spot he was originally committed to

Height took a visit to Miami earlier in April during this transfer cycle.

A one-time Hurricanes commit, he flipped to Auburn on signing day in December 2019. After spending two seasons seasons with the Tigers, he entered the portal in 2022 and committed to USC.

Height officially entered the portal back in January, shortly after the departure of EDGE coach Roy Manning. The grad transfer would be able to play immediately for the Canes in 2024 and has two years of eligibility remaining.

The former four-star recruit from Dublin (Ga.) was a top 350-prospect in the 2020 class. Romello Height redshirted his first season at Auburn before playing in nine games in 2021, finishing with 16 quarterback hurries and four tackles for loss in nine games.

Height has had his eye on Miami since entering the transfer portal. His former high school coach, Roger Holmes, previously told On3’s CaneSport that the Hurricanes were a top portal contender.

Miami has been looking to add talent on the defensive line through the transfer portal. The Hurricanes picked up Marshall transfer defensive lineman Elijah Alston in January. The third-team All-Sun Belt selection tallied 45 total tackles and 11.5 tackles for loss in 13 games in 2023.

The Hurricanes signed five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott and four-stars Marquise Lightfoot and Artavius Jones as part of their 2024 recruiting class.

“All these guys play with a high motor,” Miami head coach Mario Cristobal said about the signees in December. “They’re really good technically, and that’s our job to get a better year. But they’re long explosive bodies.”
