Florida State Lands Transfer Portal QB DJ Uiagalelei | FSU Expert Breaks Down Impact, Portal Plans

Florida State is expected to start making waves in the transfer portal.

The Seminoles dominated college football’s free agency last offseason, highlighted by the spring pickup of Keon Coleman. With quarterbacks Tate Rodemaker and A.J. Duffy both leaving the program in recent weeks, DJ Uiagalalei announced his commitment to Florida State on Monday.

Sources indicate to On3 that Uiagalalei is only the first domino to start falling in the Seminoles’ direction. I have placed a Recruiting Prediction Machine pick for Alabama transfer cornerback Earl Little Jr. to land in Tallahassee. The son of Earl Little, an eight-year NFL veteran, the younger Little played in 11 games on both defense and special teams in his two seasons with the Tide.

A four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, he was a top-100 recruit and the 12th-ranked player in the Sunshine State. Transferring to Florida State will get him closer to home, too. He played at American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale.

It would be a significant win for the Seminoles, who were Alabama’s top competitor to land Little in his high school recruitment. The defensive back would join a secondary that allowed just 179.7 passing yards per game, which ranked No. 11 in the nation. Little will be a key piece at the cornerback position in 2024.

Landing at Florida State will also allow the 5-foot-11.5, 161-pound defensive back the chance to reunite with his former high school teammate Marvin Jones Jr., who recently announced his portal commitment to the Seminoles. Jones was a five-star EDGE prospect in the 2022 class who started his career at Georgia.

I’ve submitted an RPM pick for Florida State to land a transfer commitment from Earl Little Jr. with a confidence level of 65%. He was on campus earlier this week and he’s ready to return to Florida to help the Seminoles defend their ACC title and contend for a berth in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff.
