A recent Miami transfer portal entrant is no longer in the portal.

Hurricanes offensive lineman Laurance Seymore, who entered the transfer portal last week, has withdrawn his name from the portal, On3 has learned.

Seymore, a Class of 2021 top-200 recruit, made three starts for Miami last season. He ranked as the 12th-best interior offensive lineman and 195th-best overall prospect in the 2021 recruiting class according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

The 6-foot-2, 315-pound Miami native made six total appearances for the Hurricanes last year. That includes the three starts, two of which came against ACC opponents — Clemson and Pittsburgh. He played in two games as a freshman in 2021.

His entry into the portal came a few days after Hurricanes offensive line coach Alex Mirabal shared a progress report on Seymore that wasn’t glowing.

“Laurance has got to continue to work, to learn how to practice and compete at a standard and a level that Coach Cristobal, myself and the program expects for our guys,” Mirabal said. “So he’s still trying to get up to that level. And so every day, we’re going to push him to get to that level. Once he gets to that level, then he’ll be able to compete and be able to get what he says he wants and what we want for him.”

Seymore was part of Hurricanes’ 2021 recruiting class that ranked 10th-best nationally and included players such as star defensive lineman Leonard Taylor and standout safety James Williams.

Before going into the portal, Seymore was in contention to be a backup guard for a Miami offensive line that’s expected to be much-improved entering its second season under Cristobal and Mirabal.

Alabama transfer and potential early-round 2024 NFL draft pick Javion Cohen is set to be a starter at one guard spot. UCF transfer Matt Lee, another possible early-round NFL draft pick, will start at center. The Hurricanes also added highly ranked freshmen such as five-star Francis Mauigoa, who is in position to start for Miami at right tackle. In addition, the Miami also returns NFL prospects along the line like Zion Nelson and Jalen Rivers.

The Hurricanes ranked second-worst in the ACC last year in scoring offense in conference games.

“Based off new additions and players returning from injury, (Miami) will undoubtedly be one of most improved —and potentially best— OL groups in CFB this season,” Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy posted on X this summer.
