Michigan State offensive lineman Braden Miller has committed to California out of the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on his Twitter account on Sunday night.

Miller spent two seasons with the Spartans, redshirting in 2022 before playing in just three games in 2023.

He did manage to earn his way onto the Academic All-Big Ten squad, remaining in excellent standing academically.

Prior to enrolling at Michigan State and then later transferring to California, Braden Miller was rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 1,055 overall recruit in the 2022 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

He also checked in as the No. 81 offensive tackle in the class and the no. 6 overall player in the state of Colorado, hailing from Aurora (CO) Eaglecrest.

Miller is the 14th player to transfer into California this offseason, helping offset some attrition via the NCAA transfer portal. The Bears have lost 17 players to the transfer portal since the end of the 2023 season.

California picks up a Princeton transfer

One of the additions the Bears made via the transfer portal last month was an eyebrow-raising one, a transfer from Princeton.

Linebacker Liam Johnson committed to transfer to the California Golden Bears, he shared on social media. Johnson played well over his time with the Tigers, accumulating 4.5 sacks over two seasons with Princeton.

Liam Johnson played high school football at St. Joseph’s (PA), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 2514 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
