It’s been a wild ride in the NCAA Transfer Portal for former Mississippi State tight end Ryland Goede. On Thursday evening, he cancelled his visit to Texas A&M, and committed to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, On3 has learned.

Prior to joining Mississippi State, Goede spent three seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs and picked up two national championship rings there while sitting behind guys like Darnell Washington and Brock Bowers. Surely, those were enjoyable years, but with playing time sparse, a move to Mississippi State made sense.

But one year into that experiment and Goede caught just one pass for 18 yards, then transferred in the wake of head coach Zach Arnett’s firing. Now, a third stop is in the cards. This one will be in the ACC with Georgia Tech.

Before his time in Athens, Goede played high school football at Kennesaw Mountain in Acworth, Ga, where he was a four-star recruit in the 2020 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He was also rated the No. 214 overall prospect and the No. 9 tight end in his cycle.
