Oregon State running back Damien Martinez, one of the hottest commodities in the transfer portal, is taking an in-home visit with Miami coaches in Dallas, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. Miami is one of Martinez’ five teams he set up a visit with.

However, Martinez had originally slated his visit with Miami for later in the month. He was — and potentially still is — set to visit Arizona today and tomorrow, on April 17 and 18.

Martinez is also slated to take visits to Mississippi State on April 19 and 20, Tennessee on April 21 and 22, Kentucky on April 23 and 24 and finally Miami on April 25 through 27.

The running back is one of the most coveted pieces in the transfer portal, and currently the top rated uncommitted transfer in the On3 Transfer Portal Player Rankings. He’s a two-time all-conference first teamer.

Martinez put up big numbers over the last two seasons at Oregon State, including an impressive 2023-24 season. He ran for 1,185 yards and nine touchdowns as the Beavers went 8-5 overall and 5-4 in Pac-12 play. That came after a freshman season in which he totaled 982 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.

There was also some off-field news surrounding Martinez at the tail end of the 2023 season. In late November, he was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants. A citation was also written for being a minor in possession of marijuana.

“Made a mistake, I am fine, I WAS FINE, I’ll be fine,” Martinez said on social media following his arrest.

Due to the arrest, Oregon State suspended Martinez for the bowl game against Notre Dame.

Martinez eventually opted to transfer this spring window.

“Some decisions are harder than others and this is easily the hardest one I’ve made in my entire life,” Martinez wrote. “I want to thank every coach, fan and Beaver Nation as a whole for your love and support. I can truly say I have given my all to Oregon State and appreciate everything OSU has given me.”

Martinez also turned down significant NIL money, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. He reported Martinez was set to make $400,000 this season, but instead opted to hit the portal and take his talents elsewhere.
