St. John’s and Cincinnati are set to get visits from veteran West Virginia transfer Kerr Kriisa, who spent last year with the Mountaineers after three years at Arizona.

ESPN’s Jeff Borzello reported news of Kriisa’s visit to the Johnnies on Thursday morning, writing in a tweet:

“West Virginia transfer Kerr Kriisa is visiting St. John’s tomorrow and Saturday, source told ESPN. Averaged 11.0 points and 4.7 assists this past season, shot better than 42% from 3.”

Shortly after that report came out, another college hoops insider, Jeff Goodman, added that Kriisa will also take a trip to Cincinnati: “Kriisa will also visit Cincinnati after his trip to St. John’s, per source.”

This past season, Kriisa played in 23 games and averaged 11 points per game, 2.5 rebounds, 4.7 assists, shot 42.9% from the floor and 42.4% from three-point range. He played three seasons for Arizona and just one for West Virginia.

As a member of the Class of 2020, Kriisa was not ranked, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He played his high school basketball out of Tartu’s Estonia.

At Saint John’s, Kriisa would find a nice match in head coach Rick Pitino, always a high-tempo coach who would love to let a sharpshooter like Kriisa fire away with full confidence, something that was a bit of an issue during his years at Arizona, but could be welcomed with the Johnnies.

As for Cincinnati, the Bearcats offer an opportunity to remain in the Big 12, if that’s what he chooses to do. Cincy just finished an alright first year in one of college hoops’ premier leagues, fighting on the NCAA Tournament bubble for most of the season before ultimately coming short and landing in the NIT, where Wes Miller’s group made a nice little run before bowing out against Robbie Avila (AKA Cream Abdul-Jabbar) and Indiana State.

Kriisa could slide in as a nice veteran presence in the backcourt who brings experience in this league, especially now that Kriisa’s former home, Arizona, is joining the conference along with several other old Pac-12 teams in 2024-25.

With those options already on the table, plus several others, you would think, Kriisa will have plenty of high major opportunities to play what could be his final year of college hoops. He did only play eight games as a true freshman and could feasibly apply for an extra year in 2025-26 if he so chooses.
