Transfer portal: Ranking the top players that entered on Wednesday

Thirty-seven players entered the transfer portal on Tuesday. This makes the total number of entrants over 1,250 players. In 2022, the transfer portal reached an all-time high of 1,649 players entered. Only 25 days into the 60-day period, we are more than 75 percent of the way there.

We are currently approaching the final day of the March 30-April 6 dead period, which will be followed by an April 10-13 dead period. A recruiting dead period is when college coaches are not permitted to have any in-person contact with recruits and/or their parents.

While the total number of players who went in today was not close to what we were seeing last week, the caliber of players who went in continues to be significant.

1. C Ugonna Onyenso (Kentucky)

Height/weight: 6-11/225
Year: Freshman
High school: Putnam (CT) Putnam Science

Ugonna Onyenso averaged 2.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks last season. He reclassified up, enrolling at Kentucky a year early. Onyenso is currently the No. 9 player in the 2023 On3 Transfer Portal Ranking.

2. SG LJ Cryer (Baylor)

Year: Junior
High school: Katy (TX) Morton Ranch High

LJ Cryer averaged 15.0 points and 2.1 assists while shooting 41.5 percent from three. He was third-team All-Big 12, having the second-highest three-point percentage of P6 players with 80 or more makes. Cryer is currently the No. 14 player in the 2023 On3 Transfer Portal Ranking.

3. SF Glenn Taylor (Oregon State)

4. C Daniel Batcho (Texas Tech)

Daniel Batcho averaged 7.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks this season. The center started 16 games this season for Texas Tech. Batcho is currently the No. 76 player in the 2023 On3 Transfer Portal Ranking.

5. SF Jalen Hill (Oklahoma)

Year: Grad transfer
High school: Las Vegas (NV) Clark High

Jalen Hill averaged 9.7 points and 5.8 rebounds this season. The wing has 73 career starts at Oklahoma. Hill is currently the No. 79 player in the 2023 On3 Transfer Portal Ranking.
