Wisconsin has added a commitment from a former SEC offensive lineman as Leyton Nelson of Vanderbilt has committed to the Badgers.

Nelson announced his commitment Monday afternoon on Twitter. He appeared in 11 games as a sophomore in 2023.

Leyton Nelson was ranked as the No. 37 offensive tackle in the country in the class of 2022, according to the On3 Industry rankings.

As a freshman in 2022, Nelson played in one game against Kentucky.

This past season, Nelson played in 11 games, helping the Commodores to a 2-10 record. Now he is off to Wisconsin, where he will look to make an impact under second-year head coach Luke Fickell.

The Badgers finished 7-6 last year under Fickell, including falling in a close game against LSU in the ReliaQuest Bowl to end the year.

Wisconsin will open the 2024 season on Aug. 31 against Western Michigan.

Wisconsin quarterback Nick Evers enters NCAA Transfer Portal

While Wisconsin is adding some pieces from the transfer portal, the Badgers have also had some players enter the portal.

That includes quarterback Nick Evers, who entered the portal earlier this month.

Evers will be on his third program when he picks a new school to attend, having suited up for Wisconsin and Oklahoma over the past two years. He’s had a tumultuous journey, one that started during his recruiting process.

The talented former four-star and top-150 prospect initially committed to Florida. However, following the firing of coach Dan Mullen and the hiring of Billy Napier he opted to look elsewhere.

He then committed to Oklahoma, where he spent the 2022 season.

Evers redshirted in 2022 after playing in just one game, attempting only one pass. He then transferred to Wisconsin, where he saw no game action during the 2023 season.

Despite the bouncing around, Evers still has a considerable amount of talent.

Prior to enrolling at Oklahoma, Nick Evers was rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 129 overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

He also checked in as the No. 8 quarterback in his class and the No. 21 overall player from the state of Texas, hailing from Flower Mound (TX) Flower Mound.
