Up 1 in the bottom of 9th. Runners at 2nd, 3rd.. ball at the catchers feet.. he kicks it away... run scores.. he tried to throw to the pitcher covering home... threw it to the dugout and the 2nd run scored.

Game over.

correction: it was the first baseman who came running in to pick it up and made a late throw to the plate that went to the dugout.

Pure corndog luck. Sure hope we beat Vandy tonight, because I really don't want to see them again.

I see that ending to a game once a weekend in 10 year old baseball.

They had no business winning that game. Now I’m convinced this will give them new life and propel them to win the tournament somehow.

They do this crap every dang year, especially in Hoover.

The catcher was covering the plate. It was the first baseman that threw it away.

Trying to understand what happened since I can't see it. SEC stats says:
DiGiacomo singled to right center (0-1 F).
Garza singled to left center, advanced to second on the throw (1-1 KB); DiGiacomo advanced to third.
Broussard lined out to lf (1-0 B).
Bianco advanced to third on a wild pitch, scored on a throwing error by 1b, unearned; DiGiacomo scored on a wild pitch.

So sounds like Garza on second and DiGiacomo on third with one out. Should Bianco there be Garza or was Bianco pinch running?

The throw should have never been made. Eat that ball and it's still tied. Absolutely zero chance of getting the first runner at the plate. No guarantee that he wouldn't have eventually scored anyway.

I think Bianco was on his way home. He had to throw it.
