So are y’all hearing the same rumors we are that there’s a strong chance we play the Egg Bowl September 26? It would kind of make sense for two reasons:
1- geography and limiting travel early on
2- you ensure you get the rivalry games in in case the season winds up cancelled later on

Haven't heard that. From what I read, Sept 26 is opening day, so neither team would be sharp.

On the other hand, someone yesterday posted that they preferred for us to open with a cupcake, so if the rumor is true, they got their wish. **

It would certainly be must watch TV from a national perspective. First week of SEC football, and you get Leach v. Kiffin in primetime.

I had a rebel friend tell me something similar last night. He didn't say what weekend but that it could be much earlier.

I’ve only heard it from Ole Miss fans. The same fans wanting to “melt the trophy and make it an ordinary game.”

I’ve gone through seasons when the team hasn’t been sharp so that shouldn’t make much of a difference. **

I'm looking forward to seen our new quarterback in action. And I suppose OM will start Corral?

17 that. There are going to be asterisks on top of asterisks on top of asterisks for all of the first games after the COVID shutdown. It’s going to be sloppy as hell, and you are talking about two brand new coaches / systems on both sides of the ball on top of that. That’s the last thing we need in the Egg Bowl. Players need to be sharp and seasoned, and only concerned about how much hate they have for the opposing team.

Might be lots of air but not much raid.

Reminds me of one of my golf buddies a couple of years ago. He texted and wondered if the course we were going to play had been "air raided". Hopefully he was using voice text and didn't really think that's how "aerated" was spelled.

It might be the case in order for them to make it a home game for Ole Miss. I think scheduling is going to be thrown off as far as road and home games. Be cool to get LSU at home again. I would take KY at home too.

No, you get Leach vs Kiffin at 11AM on SEC network while CBS uses thier doubleheader to carroy the Iron Bowl and The Outdoor Cocktail Party. Prime time would be TAMU and LSU.

Not even close from a national perspective. Because if we do it it's because everybody else is doing it.

Even that would be a good Saturday schedule. Lots of folks would be watching (depending on kneeling and patches **).

They'd squeeze us into the newly added 8AM slot. ****

This would be awesome for the rivalry. The loser would forever claim the 2020 game didn't count!

Haha I hear you. Yeah it would be opening weekend, that’s what I meant. Would be a sloppy mess, I would imagine. So like most every Egg Bowl. It would be the most meaningless Egg Bowl of all time. (Unless Ole Miss won in which case it would clearly demonstrated a new trajectory for both programs. One that will never be reversed.**)

Man you read right through me Sherlock. We’ve definitely planted it in the multiple SEC reporters minds to speak it into reality.
