Remember when we fired our entire video and social media team?

I think that I said something about this last week. Last night I was thinking about our athletic department. I am an optimist but once I change to being a pessimist on a topic it's hard to change my mind back.
I was with Moorhead until Tennessee.
Lebby I felt like he had the tools and could recruit but his decision on Hutzler is what set is so far back. He should have made Hutzler be here day one is he really wanted the job (which he shouldn't have gotten) but after year one Hutzler should have been fired. I was going to give Lebby this year to see how things play out. The whole year not just the start or the end. Hopefully we continue to win and we keep Lebby and K1.
I also read a lot about Selmon and still do. At first it was about how he wasn't doing anything. Then it was how he made an easy hire for football. I think, as some have stated, he had to see how bad our athletic program was run, not just NIL, and fix it all at the same time. I give him credit for taking the time to look at everything then make a plan. This year he got the additional staff we've been needing in football for some time. We're on an upward trajectory. We just have to keep building. If/ when selmon leaves, we can't do the lazy hire and promote from within. We have to bring in people with knowledge of how other, more prestigious programs are run and build in that direction.

Hopefully this year and next year, things stay together and we have amazing seasons in all 3 major sports.

Who fired them? Am I supposed to give credit to Keenum or the Oklahoma guy?
If I remember correctly it was Selmon. Do you remember a few years back on national singing day for football when there were absolutely no posts about players signing. The social media team showed up to the office late and acted like it was a normal day at the office. From what I was told Zac waited till they were all there then fired the entire staff on the spot that morning.

I had not heard this until now. I complained about our media team for years and years but I've been impressed with our media team has cooked up the past couple years.

I thought it was Lebby who understood and prioritized the media game. Good to know Selmon doesn't want to settle. It's something so simple that really elevates the program atmosphere when you can't attend a game.

I think it was the year where the signing day videos was Hutzler sitting in a half empty office with boxes still unpacked in the background talking about a guy we just signed. It was super cringy and very low quality.

The one thing we can't do when Selmon leaves is hire a non-AD career track guy, like John Cohen. The days when coaches can step in and successfully run an entire athletic department are LONG gone. Athletic administration is a career path of its own now.

I'd really like to read the transcript of what was said.

...which was Hutzler's 2nd year. Unless he was moving offices, the boxes unpacked was head scratching. Reminds me of his defense - a head scratcher.

I think it was actually Lebby who said they had to go. They were a football only media staff.
