KT has a hamstring. He won't be running much.do you design more run plays for KT?
I swear, we have a lot of fans trying to get KT killed this year between calling for him to run all the time to calling for a rb who can’t pass block.KT has a hamstring. He won't be running much.
and after last weekend he has an ankle too.KT has a hamstring. He won't be running much.
Calm down... No one is saying turn him in to Tebow, just simply asking if Lebby will throw in a few more run plays with a slippery field.I swear, we have a lot of fans trying to get KT killed this year between calling for him to run all the time to calling for a rb who can’t pass block.
The ankle isn't a big deal. He will be dealing with that hamstring for several more weeks.and after last weekend he has an ankle too.
I knew he tweaked his ankle at the end of the Missouri game, but wasn't aware of the hamstring issue. When did that happen? The ankle isn't a big deal. He will be dealing with that hamstring for several more weeks.
Initially happened in the south carolina game.I knew he tweaked his ankle at the end of the Missouri game, but wasn't aware of the hamstring issue. When did that happen?
More info coming in the magazine.I knew he tweaked his ankle at the end of the Missouri game, but wasn't aware of the hamstring issue. When did that happen?
Yeah you could tell on the read option that he pulled up on in the 4th quarter of that game. If he’s not hurt that’s probably a TD, but he pulled up and slid down after like a 5 yard gain.Initially happened in the south carolina game.
I had an ankle injury in HS and it was the worst injury I had because it bothered me with every step. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Even with heavy tape and Ibuprofen it was nagging and it took forever to go away. The ankle isn't a big deal. He will be dealing with that hamstring for several more weeks.
No. No matter the climate you don't run KT more. He is a QB, and maybe the best one in the country. We have running backs (plural) that we can run and not risk losing our generational QB.do you design more run plays for KT?
This is an even bigger reason why the answer is no. Unstable turf leads to slip/catch type injuries where the sudden stops does something really bad to ligaments and such.Calm down... No one is saying turn him in to Tebow, just simply asking if Lebby will throw in a few more run plays with a slippery field.
There are degrees of ankle injuries. Probably half the players on the field at any given time have sore ankles. His ankle is fine and will be fine as long as it's not a high ankle sprain.I had an ankle injury in HS and it was the worst injury I had because it bothered me with every step. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Even with heavy tape and Ibuprofen it was nagging and it took forever to go away.
I hope to God Lebby plays this game smart and does whatever necessary to protect K1.
Nobody wants to see the Dawgs beat Bama more than I do.
But...
We don't need this game. The remainder of the schedule sets up VERY WELL for us. VERY WELL. We need to stay healthy so we can do the most damage possible. Our chances of winning in Red Stick and Austin are just as good if not better than beating Bama at home.
Keep K1 upright and healthy in this game. Then we get a week off to heal up and get ready for the final run to the playoffs.
Definitely not against Bama's defense. That could derail the season. You do just what we've been doing - let him air it out to 2, 7, and 13, and get the DBs back as far off the LOS as you can. Then you hit underneath and seams to 24, 3 and 87, then K1 only runs when the pocket breaks down or to get a critical first down. Sorry to break into the Kang's speech, but I didn't feel like typing all the names.do you design more run plays for KT?

He was coaching the Jets for Christ's sake.
So do you want to get to the playoffs and play Georgia in the first round, or do you want to get there and play Tulane in the first round? He was coaching the Jets for Christ's sake.
But even Hermie knows -
You play to get in the playoffs -
so you can win the championship.
I do not know if we have plural running backs the way Bothwell is being used. Gayten must not do anything right because I still would like to see him get more touches.No. No matter the climate you don't run KT more. He is a QB, and maybe the best one in the country. That was kind of my thought starting this thread. I 100% agree that our season depends on KT staying healthy; however, he is going to get hit some whether you run him or not. I will also say I think he stands a bigger risk of getting hurt from a sack in the pocket versus a few runs and if we do not show the threat of him rushing Bama will bring the heat every time.So do you want to get to the playoffs and play Georgia in the first round, or do you want to get there and play Tulane in the first round?
If we're not playing to win, we're pusses.
Definitely need to get Fluff off the field more. Gayten is a curious case....I know he has had fumble issues before. Maybe he still shows that in practice so the coaches don't fully trust him. But he's pretty similar to Fluff and would be a good plug-in, with Wilson and JJ as change of pace guys.I do not know if we have plural running backs the way Bothwell is being used. Gayten must not do anything right because I still would like to see him get more touches.
I think we have several capable running backs. My primary concern would be the defense knowing that Fluff is the only one who can pass block (if that's true?) and being able to just load up against the run any time he isn't in there. What we really need is for one of the other backs to be serviceable in pass protection so that we can spell Fluff if needed and not lose the passing attack. I'm convinced of the other RBs running skill, assuming that they know how to follow blockers, find holes, etc. (i.e. know the playbook) and hoping at least one can pass block.I do not know if we have plural running backs the way Bothwell is being used. Gayten must not do anything right because I still would like to see him get more touches.
Gayten's lack of touches is a bit surprising, as I think he has the best speed of our RBs. Must really be a liability at pass pro.I do not know if we have plural running backs the way Bothwell is being used. Gayten must not do anything right because I still would like to see him get more touches.
For us ole guys - "1 has a hamstring"KT has a hamstring. He won't be running much.
I hurt the same ankle multiple times playing high school basketball. I turned 60 in April & it still bothers me periodically.I had an ankle injury in HS and it was the worst injury I had because it bothered me with every step. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Even with heavy tape and Ibuprofen it was nagging and it took forever to go away.
perhaps not, but i don't see us getting any healthier and having a better chance of beating a top 10 than on Saturday. We don't need this game.
I don't see 'not calling more designed runs' as a p*ssy move or anything... just being smart long-term at this point. I just don't see any reason for me (as a playcaller) to call for him to get tackled an extra 10-20 times, at least not this early in the season.
To me, it's just an unneccessary risk. You don't tell him not to run, you just call plays as usual - give the ball to Fluff, call passes like you've been doing - then if the pocket breaks, go get the first down young buck.
In my view, we are staring at a realistic chance of going 9-3 right now. Could be 10-2 and in the playoff discussion if we play our best against LSU. I just wouldn't derail that by running K1 a bunch this game just to prove how tough we are. If he gets hurt... where are we, 6-6 maybe? Not worth it.

It would be terrific to beat 7 ranked Bama in Starkville. And our chances are good.perhaps not, but i don't see us getting any healthier and having a better chance of beating a top 10 than on Saturday.
I don't know man, that Texas D has been pretty salty against better competition than Bama has seen.It would be terrific to beat 7 ranked Bama in Starkville. And our chances are good.
I hope K1 balls out. I just don't want to see him put at any greater risk than he already has been this season. You don't hook Secretariat to a plow. K1, if he has to run, should run sparingly and get down quick.
Our chances are better beating (hopefully still) #1 Texas in Austin.
I don't argue running can be safer than sitting in the pocket, all things being equal. But as has been mentioned - he's dinged up already. I just said I don't see any reason to guarantee he gets tackled 20 extra times in this game. Seems safer to me and a better long term decision to have him do what he's been doing. I guess we'll see if Lebby agrees with you on Saturday. Whichever way he goes, I hope he's right.
Can't see the periapsis for 10/31 yet (not even close). 10/3 is on top of us. As to the K1 rushing strategy, I think the one in place is working fine. Our chances are better beating (hopefully still) #1 Texas in Austin.
