Headed to Birmingham this weekend for the red Clay strays. Been years since I’ve been to Birmingham. What you got as far as restaurants? Anything from burgers to Michelin?

Another Saw's BBQ fan here, but if you have a specific dish in mind, check the location menu beforehand...they're all close, but not identical. I think at least one doesn't have ribs while another doesn't have the smoked wings.

If you like meat-and-three lunches, Johnny's in Homewood. Ignore the UM paraphernalia.
Eugene's Hot Chicken is another great lunch if you like Nashville-style chicken, but get there early unless you like lines and waiting.
Odd category, but if you want Chicago deep dish pizza, try Tortuga's.

Our favorite Italian place has slipped a little over the last couple of years, so no help in that genre.

Strays are playing B'ham on 10/31. Are you staying near the arena in downtown or in one of the OTM suburbs? Looking for dinner on Saturday before the show? Check out some of the downtown eateries like The Essential, Wooden City, Helen, Bayonet or El Barrio. Most places in downtown will require reservations for a Saturday dinner, so check ahead.

You could also probably hit Bottega Cafe in 5 points for an early dinner on Saturday and get in pretty quick.

Actually have not made hotel reservations yet so any recommendations there are welcom as well. Was kind of leaning toward Ross Bridge, but nothing definite I’m Mariott platinum elite and Hilton diamond. So I usually hang at one of those two spots.

I 2nd Guiseppe's. The Italian Stallion is *chef's kiss*, and their pizza is also really good.

There's a newer place beside Hop City called Burning Tree that is supposed to have incredible brisket tacos. I haven't had them yet, but I tried last week and the line was out the door. The prices are also reasonable.

Nikki's West or Irondale Cafe for meat and three.

Chez Fonfon is an upscale restaurant, but their burger may be the best in town. Their escargot is also really good.

There's a ton of great Mediterranean/ Greek food. My favorite is probably Makkario's.

If you want cocktails, I'd recommend Bygones and Tucana.

Very solid list! Helen, The Garage, and Miss Myra's....all great. Only thing I would add is Salems for a Philly.

You are correct. I’ve been thinking it was this weekend the whole time. I’m so glad you posted this or I would be in Birmingham with no concert going on 😂

If staying out in Ross Bridge, check out The Front Porch.

Ross Bridge Marriott is nice. And you could get in a round of golf while you're there. It's overpriced, but a decent course.

Well, to be fair, B'ham is a truly good food city/metro, punches far above its weight. Right there with Memphis IMO.

Need to add Davenport's Pizza in Mountain Brook, and Dmitri's BBQ in Homewood. And Niki's West over in the hood.
I sincerely appreciate your post. I am a foodie and love good food and good music. I can go James Beard/ Michelin and I can go Hole in the wall. Done my fair share of both. Will be looking into all suggestions. Unfortunately for me Ms Doobee doesn’t like bbq and honestly doesn’t like fine dining. I love it all!!!!! We’ll figure it out and be well pleased I’m confident.

Ill tell you WTF !
Anyone that puts a sign out front of their restaurant advertising Big “Good” Breakfast while the restaurant behind them is called Big Bad Breakfast deserves a shout out.
Plus, their sauce for burgers and dipping fries in is top notch.
Plus, plus, - - - I know the owner and while an AU grad, he is a good dude.
And another plus, he married a Hot ole miss cheerleader from the late 80’s and her family has all the $$$.
