An AI search shows that even against FBS schools in his first year, he averaged over 23 points a game. That was with a QB that many referred to as the “midget” and then with a backup named Ralph.

The only point quite frankly is that I don’t have that much faith in an offensive genius that loses one player and suddenly we can’t score a touchdown,

I don’t want to hear him floating his own name in every job search.
I’ll rake a coach that wins enough that can pimp himself out as opposed to this. The fact is, except at a few select schools, that is always a threat.

With that logic, we would have rejected Saban. I have been around long enough to know that is just part of it. Did we forget JWS and all the flirting he did?

Get over it old man. If he came back he’d be here for good. Stop being bitter because he hurt your feelings. He was the best we ever had and would be lucky to have him back. Please tell me of the coaches in the 8 years since he left who you’d choose over him.

Mullen was fortunate to have Arkansas and Kentucky as permanent opponents at their lowest. 6-6 was the base record with wins over bad OOC opponents. After his 2nd year he never won an egg bowl when going into that game with a winning record. Good luck to him in his future search for greener pastures

Huh? Mullen was a proponent of doing away with the western and eastern divisions because he had to face a brutal sec west schedule every year. So he wanted to do away with having Arkansas and Kentucky permanently and wanted to be the coach under the current model we have now.

Get real dude. You’re part of the problem. You want a unicorn that has a proven winnning record, loves Mississippi State, can win here, and will never leave.
You can realistically pick 2 of those.

Mullen is not good enough to play that **** as much as he did. And on top of that, he checked out on his own teams here while he was thinking only of himself. He's not an especially good game-caller, had horrible clock management and lost games because he went conservative too soon. He never seemed to learn any lessons.

We might not be as terrible every year, but we wouldn't ever be especially good either.

He finished higher than 4th place in the SEC west only once in his career so of course he'd want that. 2010 was the one year I'll say sure I'll give him that but besides that, he can take some cheese with that wine

As with most discussions about Lebby it’s bc Mullen had an O line. And always realized the importance of it. You can only scheme your way thru this thing so far. But early Mullen is the last time we had a coach with some “F you” in him. It faded when he started job hunting. But we need some of that

I never said I wanted any of those things. All I'm saying is if you are paying the 15th highest head coach salary in a 16 team league don't be surprised when you get poor results.

Florida fans still beating themselves up about it. Florida suffered for years and years after they fired him and hired Billy Napier. Haven’t returned to the championship game since.
Yep they should rehire Mullen. Fortunately they don't have NIU on their schedule next year

If Mullen loses tonight he'll be off my radar permanently.
He won’t. Turn it over to the game . It’s on cbs sports network. Watch how he coaches on the sidelines. Watch how engaged he is with his staff and players. You should be able to see and identify that he’s a good coach . By Just watching.

I hope that you were able to watch him coach. I hope that you were able to to watch how he gathered his team around him before letting them go to the locker room at halftime. And I hope that you were able to see the passionate coaching he gave them. I hope that you were able to see it and I hope that you were able to realize it’s something that you haven’t had lately.

I’d take Mullen now, if he brought Heavesy with him. I’d extend Lebby’s contract if he brought Heavesy in As OL coach. He took average at best guys and pretty much always turned them into a decent line. This board’s take on him collectively is the main reason I hold this board‘s opinion on football as mostly laughable. He was absolutely underrated as a recruiter too.

Mike Leach. He’s dead so I’ll take Dan over this debauch.
