i used to pull for woods. he was a refreshing change to a staid, imho, sport. other than odd clothing choices most golfers all looked and acted the played pretty much alike. he was different, especially in his ability to hit a golf ball into orbit and make astounding putts and chips
the whole playing around with women did not bother me that much, many people are so afflicted. but, i did wonder at his choices.....why would he be boning some of those mediocre looking babes.
then his wife, well, lots of peeps have marital problems, i still was not deterred
after his auto accident i turned on woods. just too stupid and reckless to not just him but any poor fool that might have gotten in his way
maybe that was a wake up moment for the man. i hope so, i would like to see him gin up the interest if he can be competitive. i hope so, but he has been inclined to do the stupid so often, i am dubious

After that auto accident 13 months ago...

Love him, hate him... Tiger Woods is good for the game of golf..
I think this year that, if he makes the cut and plays all four days, it will be a mammoth achievement. I think it will be day to day. That leg was mangled - and there's always the back. Saturday is going to be cool, not advantageous to any of these injuries.

Completing 4 rounds is the daunting first big test. No idea how competitive he'll be if he makes the cut.

Ben Hogan came back in a much less medically advanced time.

The trait both men share in is super human focus.

Agree that it would be a giant achievement.

First, I'm going to hope that he makes the cut. Then, I'll get more serious about cheering for a Tiger comeback.

Agree about about Hogan's lack of access to great medical care compared to Tiger's - and that includes the PT aspect as well. On the other side of the coin, Tiger is also 10 years older than Hogan was when he made his recovery and comeback - and Tiger has prior physical injuries and surgeries. He's a bigger, stronger man than Hogan was, however. The will of both men to compete again is unquestionable.

I don't hate him, but I'm not pulling for him (to win). But making the cut would be a remarkable achievement this year and I'm glad his recovery has gone so well.

Not really. Dude has major addiction issues. If he’s not careful he will go away like prince and Tom petty did. Ooos. Too soon???
I think whatever addictions he had, or might have had, are or were more behavioral than pharmaceutical.

That course is so tough to walk. They don't just walk it for 4 days, they walk it for 7 or 8. We'll see how Tiger holds up, his experience there will help. Making the cut would be one heck of a story, winning would be unbelievable.

I didn't realize he is addicted. Hadn't even read or heard it until now.
It’s out there and been said. You think he ran off the road just because he was “tired”. If you havnt watched dole sick on Netflix give it a look. Shows the rise and fall of OxyContin. However, the biggest take from all of it was how easily it is for solid people to get ensnared with opioids

Considering Hogan had a head on crash with a Greyhound bus, in the days when vehicles were all steel, I'm giving the nod to Ben on whose crash was more horrific.

Almost certainly no seat belts, either. He has stated that throwing himself on his wife to protect her saved his life by taking him from behind the steering column. It was a horrific crash.

I think Scheffler can shoot even par for the weekend and win it now. However, I think he will shoot lower than that. No one has come from 120-something in the world to #1 as fast as this guy as far as I can remember. I think it's happened in under 18 months.

Really strong showing with all variables considered - it’s crazy how good he still is with the injuries and age. Today is probably the day the adrenaline wears off and the pain becomes very acute - but I hope he’s got something up his sleeve.

Looking forward to weekend play. My wife made egg salad and pimento cheese for sandwiches.

I give a tip of the cap to whoever wins. May not always be a fan personally, but he'll have my respect for the tournament win.

The boy that seems likely to win is very unassuming. I could be happy for him.

Seems like Woods is not comfortable playing a draw anymore. Never saw him hit a stinger either. Those shots would have helped in these conditions.

Tiger. playing that high fade would have needed perfect conditions to contend. You could tell right away in the second round with him standing in the fairway bunker on #1. that he knew he didn't have a chance with that wind blowing in his face.
