It's an ok article with a really stupid title. The fact is it's fairly irrelevant how consistently you make the tournament if you never really accomplish anything in it. Using his guidelines, a team could win 5 straight titles, miss the tournament one year, then win 5 more straight titles but they are considered a less consistent team than a team that makes 11 straight appearances but loses in the first round ever year.

I bet there are lots of teams that are consistently bad. That's still consistent. Like Northwestern, they are the only P5 team to never make the NCAA in their history (that will unfortunately change this year). But think about THAT consistency. They have been too terrible to make the NCAA tournament for 68 years.

Also on the list to never make it are Army, Citadel, William & Mary, and St. Francis - Brooklyn. CONSISTENCY!

They have never made the NCAA tournament. That is equal consistent.

Umm then UK would be on that list to. Unless he is saying "over the past X number of years" in which you can skew the number to fit your agenda.

Kind of stupid really! Only one team has been to four final fours since 2011. And it's none of the team's he listed.

His idea of consistency is making the tourney every year and underachieving multiple years instead of making the tourney almost every year and excelling the majority of those years. What an idiotic take from a so called expert.

He never said BEST, he said most consistent.

Gonzaga is consistently a paper tiger who can win a few games in the NCAA, but nothing more.

I'd rather go to a Final Four every 2-3 years and miss the tournament 1 year than never get past the Sweet 16.

If his criteria for consistent in regards to Michigan State means averaging 10 losses per season then yeah, he is correct.

When Goodman left CBS, Norlander seems to have taken over as their go to guy for poking the Bbn bear. He used to be the only one of their CBB writers I could tolerate.

How do you leave out the program with the most wins, most tourney appearances, 2nd most titles, most tourney wins, highest winning percentage, and championships in 5 difference decades and 5 different coaches with titles?

Exactly and Cal will never miss the tourney again . hell he only missed it due to not adjusting to his one and done style yet ( not recruiting enough depth ) and most importantly Noel tearing his ACL/. IMO Cal will retire in 10 years or so and we will have 7-9 final 4's and at least 2 more titles. I wil take that any day of the week!
