Very impressive crowd today.

[drt7891]

My guess between 11M-12M. Very good turnout.

[engie]

Guessing it's going to be at least that big if not bigger...

Was just told by someone that they ran out of actual tickets. "They just told me to walk on in." Biggest crowd in years.

[MetEdDawg]

11 to 12 million?

That's got to be some kind of record.**

[The Fatboy]

M means thousand

nm

[skb124]

Since when? Assuming you are being sarcastic. K means thousand

[engie]

Holy cow..tons of people standing on the street just standing trying to see between rigs

No way they get an accurate count on this one -- between being out of tickets and people not even coming inside the fence...

[karlchilders.sixpack]

Yeah in some circles

Roman numeral M=1,000
and Generlly MM = 1Mill.

or just use K

[UpTheMiddlex3Punt]

M on its own means thousand, e.g $100M (100,000 dollars). M as a prefix, e.g. MB (megabytes*) or MHz (megahertz), means million.

* may be off by about 5% depending on context

[drt7891]

My guess between 11M-12M. Very good turnout.

14,561. Suck it, Dick Cross.

[CEO2044]

14,562K announced for baseball.

[engie]

Second largest crowd in history of the stadium -- and consequently the history of college baseball(on campus)...

Just regained all the spots in OUR top 10!

[TBone.sixpack]

Does anyome have any images of the crowd?

[CEO2044]

wont let me post

[skb124]

Yea M is 1000 in roman numerals

But you don't mix regular numerals and Roman numerals in the same number. so 14M does not mean 14,000. That is 14 million.

[CEO2044]

Here in America..

[karlchilders.sixpack]

Just listen

In the business world
generally M = 1,000
MM = 1Mill.

K did not come along until the computer world kicked in.

May not be that way in every organization, but many, that's just the way it is.

Where I work M=1,000, MM=1,000,00

Ill clarify further... The finance side uses that, the engineers use K=1,000, M=1,000,000.

[QuaoarsKing]

Is it that big of a deal? We all knew what he meant...

Yeah but you keep doing this just to start an argument. Just say 11,000 to 12,000, how hard is that? And for those who keep taking the bait, if you can't figure out he meant thousand you are too stupid to post here.

[msstate7]

Is it that big of a deal? We all knew what he meant...

We should argue at least another hour

[skb124]

Do you really think people didn't understand what he meant? People were messing with him because M generally means million and K equals thousand. Now as others have pointed out, that isn't always the case. I honestly had never heard of M meaning thousand, so you learn something new every day. Partly my fault, but this is a pretty dumb thing for people to get upset about.

[natchezdawg]

Would you tools stop arguing over variations in numerical abbreviations?Everyone knew what he meant.

[CochiseCowbell]

This argument isn't over until Stratdawg (I think) weighs in. He inadvertently started this argument months ago. There's a thread out there somewhere, but I'm too dumb and lazy to find it, I have beer to drink and a series win to celebrate.

[drt7891]

You must not have been reading this board too long.*

[DerHntr]

Damn shame it's not on TV

[engie]

Damn shame it's not on TV

Agreed -- At least there were a ton of recruits there to see it. Cohen mentioned that in the post-game. Strangely, no mention of the big crowd "putting too much pressure on the kids"**

If I were a baseball player being recruited by MSU and I was visiting for that game, pretty sure I'd be begging coaches to hand me papers to sign. Nowhere in the country can match what we showed those kids today. Been a long, long time since I've ever been prouder to be a baseball Bulldog -- and I'm still higher than most on the football team as well...

Just think what the Romans could have built if their engineers had the number zero to use in calculation.<o></o>

Nice

[Requiem For A Dawg]

Dude, you're State's best fan of all time.

[KurtRambis4]

Bill Simmond's

twitter account has a few good ones

[CoastalDog]

Only on the sixpack would an argument occur involving whether "K" or "M" is better suited to represent the word "thousand".

[engie]

Dude, you're State's best fan of all time.

?

Can you not just be happy about the turnout today -- the fact that we are one good weekend away from a probable national seed -- and having hosting almost locked up at this point?

[RocketDawg]

There should be no argument. In the tech world, K=thousand (as in "kilo", so sorta metric), and M=million. And everybody knows tech rules ....

[RocketDawg]

The only place in daily life where I've seen M used as thousand is on a Scott's lawn fertilizer bag ... as in, 5M and 15M for 5000 and 15000 square feet coverage from the two sizes. Not sure I'd consider them being an authoritative source on mathematical nomenclature ....

[RocketDawg]

Superb crowd, but those LFL structures really don't look very stable at all. One of these days when there's an especially exciting play, the folks on top are going to be jumping up and down and the whole thing's going to cave in on the folks underneath on the ground.

Is there an official inspection of these things?

[mcdawg22]

Would you tools stop arguing over variations in numerical abbreviations?Everyone knew what he meant.

Would you rather have the Vulcan mind meld or Jedi mind trick? Ogre needs to come in a clean this thread up. Besides everyone knows that a million is 10^6. Harned rules!

[mcdawg22]

Does anyome have any images of the crowd?

I love Bill's work. Those last few shots of the stands and the stadium gave me chills. Hate I missed yesterday. That is a very special place to watch a baseball game.
