    Davis gone?

That was the intention of my post. Based solely on being in Cael’s doghouse more than once, Long and Davis are similar. Personality wise, I don’t know either personally so it’d be unfair to pass judgement. I hope Davis is able to correct his course rather than pan out how Long did.

    Davis gone?

Davis’s situation reminds me of when Cael brought Andrew Long in from Iowa State. Immensely talented kid, but ran afoul more than once. Cael gave him a second chance at PSU before Long squandered it and Cael had no choice but to let him go too

    Helping a smaller PA program

Thank you! I went back to school for teaching in January 2024 and graduated with my Bachelors in 2025. I started my Masters that fall and did another bonsai run to finish this winter before wrestling season starts. Ironically, my advisor was also a wrestler: Mike Hahesy. He wrestled for...

Robert Morris to add D1 wrestling program in 2027-2028

Slippery Rock was grandfathered in until they dropped the program in the 2000’s. They can’t go back to D1 now without transitioning to D1 across the board. Frankly, they’re better off at D2 anyhow. They don’t have to contend with NIL nearly as much and they can (should) be far more competitive

Robert Morris to add D1 wrestling program in 2027-2028

RMU is D1 in all of their other sports. I forget the year the rule was ushered in, but you have to be D1 in all sports in order to wrestle D1. The only exceptions are teams that were grandfathered in because they wrestled D1 before the rule was established (e.g. Edinboro, Clarion, Lock Haven, etc.)

    Helping a smaller PA program

I agree with the point you’re making. The financial situation is hard to argue against. The exodus of population from PA is a massive detriment to many universities especially PennWest. I say that as someone who’s about to graduate from PennWest with their Masters. The point I was making was...

question.... is the wrestler from Chestnut Ridge (deputy) being recruited by Cael

His last name is pronounced Oar. Like an oar on a boat or Ore you mine from the ground

    Helping a smaller PA program

I know not everybody is a Doug Schwab or Mark Branch, but they manage to hang on to most of their guys (e.g. Parker Keckeisen, Bryce Meredith) better than many others in their position. To me, that shows that there’s a path forward if you recruit the right kids

    Helping a smaller PA program

If nothing else, NIL ups the pressure on state school coaches to hit on the proverbial diamonds in the rough. Ask Tim Flynn how difficult it is to identify guys like AJ Schopp, Mitchell Port, or David Habat while working on a shoestring state school budget

    Helping a smaller PA program

I know Edinboro already does a bunch of local outreach events for wrestling (e.g. youth night, mat side socials, etc.). Getting AJ back has helped their lightweights get competitive again. Mercyhurst is starting their first season at D1 this year. They’re probably gonna be down for a few years...

    '26 Who's #1 (9/26) thread

Yep. That’d be Derek. He’s a good wrestler in his own right. He’s just several levels below his brother obviously

The matchup I’m looking forward to is Dube v. Shepherd. Dube is from 40 minutes west of my hometown. Shepherd is a future PSU guy so it’s kinda split my allegiances. My gut says Shepherd avenges his Fargo loss. The craziest thing about Dube is that he didn’t start wrestling until 6th or 7th grade

Favorite current Non PSU wrestler to watch

I’ve been watching Paniro wrestle since he was in PJWs. Same with Van Dee. Catrabone’s dad is from Harbor Creek (just east of Erie). So mostly kids with local roots
