ICE Round 1 and Playoff Thoughts

Totally on board with a 4 week NIT style tournament for the non qualifiers in the 256 team format. Gives them the feel of some tournament football as well as some chance for extra games and development to bring some positive mojo heading into the next year.

    Small School Classes

1A Bracket Winners Calhoun in the south - Avoid all their buddies from the WIVC and on paper almost a cake walk to the Semi Finals 1A Bracket Losers The NUIC - Their big 3 Stockton, Forreston and Lena will see 2 of the 3 bounced before the Quarterfinals. Fulton has a great shot to join the...

Nominate: Week 9 State Wide IHSA Football Varsity Head Coach of the Week

Ive got a couple guys from my Kankakee area. Apostolos Tsiamas of Peotone - Finished the regular season with a win at Herscher to go 7-2 and earn a first round bye in the playoffs. Very blue collar kids and team he does a great job year in and year out. Jeff Perzee of Clifton Central -...

    Hypothetical District Proposal

If we ever move to a district model things Id like to see. Lets remove the CPL schools from the IHSA playoffs with the exception of the 6-8 (estimated) that actually compete. 440-450 11 man Schools. Go back to 6 Class System with 48 Team Playoff Brackets. This would allow around 2/3 of 11...

    Small School Classes

Soucie has Heyworth beating Tuscola to be the 1 Seed in the North. 2nd Round Match up of Stockton vs a Lena/Forreston winner in round 2 would leave just one of the Big 3 in the NUIC in the quarterfinals although a solid Galena squad would be in other half of the north. NUIC football has...

Nominate: Week 8 State Wide IHSA Football Coach of the Week

Shawn Skinner St. Joe Ogden Schedule a 7A school in Andrew this offseason to fill a void in the schedule. Even if Andrew isnt exactly a powerhouse this year they are more than 4 times the size of SJO. Back and forth game early but back to back turnovers by Andrew got SJO going and they didnt...
