    I would take the Under on this total. MC a new OL and QB. Flyer probably runs a lot with RB, moves clock. MC defense looks great so he will earn his yards.

    What Matchups Would You Want to See vs Teams from Other States?

    I saw BR MI play at BR in 2015 and BR Chi running clocked them. I was at the game went before MC frosh played Marist. The year before they played them at the Big House and gave them a good game but MI won. MC played BR MI in 1983 and lost 14-7 at the Silver Dome.

    Correct. I will say 1996-99. This is when we had the first CCL/ESCC merger and 6 classes that were seeded 1-32 and everything wasn't digital yet. The Star had a great section to used to have lower level scores.

    East St Louis won the first meeting between the 2 schools in '87 (6A semi). MC has now won in '88 (6A final), '95 (5A semi), '17 (7A Q), '18 (7A Q) and '23 (opener) for the 5-1 series lead.

    Of all-time it is easily the 1950 team. In the IHSA era, I am going to go with the 1996 team. Blew everyone out with the exception of JCA and LA. Even that team had to win at LA on a last second FG. In no way am I expecting MC to go undefeated with that gauntlet this year.

    I have been watching them. I obviously need to see them in person and see the scrimmage to assess how things play out, but I'm very optimistic about the defense in 2025. Last year, they had one freshman and two sophomores starting. The defensive line should be their strongest since 2012-13...

    Q of the Week: So who is the Preseason #1 ranked IHSA Football Team in Illinois?

    In no particular order, that has been the consensus top 5 of recent years. I think LWE will get the nod at 1 with the QB back while MC, LA have to replace theirs.
