OT: All things US Soccer / Int’l Soccer Thread

Yea, this one reminds me a bit of Rossi...never played in a world cup as he was always a fringe guy on the Italy squad (though he had some big performances for them), but would likely have almost certainly been playing in World Cups for us.

Agree...but hurts more since he's been playing with our youth teams, has been in a national team camp before, etc. Germany was later to the party. And I really thought that he was going to pick us up until today.

NCAA Oversight Committee rules refs screwed Western Michigan in the Michigan game

Definitely...the rulebook itself wasn't specific enough, but now it should be standardized moving forward to prevent another screwup like this one. And not sure if everyone saw it, but here is the actual feed from that night (on the right) from the Video Review...

NCAA Oversight Committee rules refs screwed Western Michigan in the Michigan game

You're bringing up a different issue. You said that the play itself (ie, timing at the end of a game) isn't reviewable. I was just correcting that and pointing out that it is (and should be) reviewable. The presence of a flag doesn't impact the ability to review this play. The other issue...

NCAA Oversight Committee rules refs screwed Western Michigan in the Michigan game

FYI...here is the rulebook definitions on this...It falls under 12.3.6(d) and 12.3.6(e)... Miscellaneous ARTICLE 6. Situations that may be addressed by the replay official: (d) Clock adjustment at the end of any quarter. If the game clock expires at the end of any quarter, either during a down...

NCAA Oversight Committee rules refs screwed Western Michigan in the Michigan game

I don't know what rules expert you're referring to, but they were either wrong, or you misunderstood them. Timing at the end of the quarter/half/game is reviewable...both ways, adding or subtracting (to see if a snap occurred after the clock ran out, to see if the clock should have expired when...

NCAA Oversight Committee rules refs screwed Western Michigan in the Michigan game

Timing at the end of the half/game is definitely grounds for a review. The fact that it was reviewed wasn't the problem....it was the execution of that review.

NCAA Oversight Committee rules refs screwed Western Michigan in the Michigan game

I don't think the "second clock" part of it was fully understood (or covered correctly). It's not that there was a second clock...it's that the Big Ten Replay booth's video of the clock appeared to have been a few tenths of a second delayed vs. the video embedded in the game feed. The lack of...

Disappointing...I think he's one of those dual-nationals whose decision is a difference maker (ie Rossi, Balogun, etc). https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/49974049/noahkai-banks-germany-usa-augsburg

As of today, Torvik has us at 105th in the country and 18th/last in the Big Ten. This is still without Josh Reed on the roster, and it's still up in the air where that one will land (we still list him on the roster today). Adding Reed would push us up another 10-15 spots or so I'd think. Bart...

It's a great roster...perfect mix of young guys with some experienced guys around them to keep some continuity and set an example. Wish that Luna was healthy, but everything else looks good to me.

I really hope that we can work out agreements with clubs to get a relatively full strength Olympic team...while also giving those guys a shot at the Olympics rather than the Copa America (we've got plenty of guys over 23 to use at Copa America). Sullivan, Gozo, Albert, Kochen (though his stock...

    Butter or Margarine?

I would have needed clarification on if we're talking salted or unsalted butter. Unsalted, and I couldn't have supported any of the choices.
