Love the scene where Don Fanucci touched De Niro's cheek and De Niro then wiped it with his hand. You knew where things were headed.

I've been getting Defcon 1 and Defcon 5 mixed up my whole life!

    Senior World Championships preview/thread

Maybe. But isn't the question whether a coach with better people skills might have managed the situation without everyone going to Defcon 5? Too many instances of my way or the highway over the past 15 years. I'll always have an abiding belief that a coach with a little more finesse might have...

Burroughs asked about coaching at Iowa

His contract goes until 2029. He'd be walking away from at least $1.5MM. I can see the university pushing him out and paying him a year's severance or whatever it is before I can see him leaving voluntarily. But what do I know?

Burroughs asked about coaching at Iowa

For many years, I wanted to believe that Iowa's coaching was on the same level as PSU's. But the evidence has long been in and it's just not true. And each successive year adds to the existing evidence. We have to stop kidding ourselves.

NEWS: Men’s wrestling adds to coaching staff ahead of 2026-27 season

An intriguing hire. I'm frankly surprised the Chinese national team would ever hire an American as the "head performance coach" for [checks notes] that country's swim team. A billion plus people over there and they needed/trusted a US citizen for help with a sport the guy apparently had never...

If I recall correctly, Mac was 22-8 his redshirt year. Wrestled at 133 and had recurring battles against Nate Moore and Montell Marion, who also were taking red-shirt years and also wrestling at 133. Eight losses as a red-shirt rosh, and then a total of just four losses the next three years...

I read it and thought it was a good post. It wasn't that hard but then again I like to read books. You keep being snarky.

NEWS: 2027 pledge Sonny Amato announces decommitment

Is what Mineo said even a real thing -- namely, that a high school wrestling recruit, over the summer before his senior year, is expected to travel to a university 1000 miles away and train with the team? If it's a thing, it's of relatively new vintage, because I thought the whole reason...
