    Looking ahead

    MSU is ranked 20th in the country in talent composite by 247. Nothing near the top of a loaded SEC but way higher than Iowa or Minnesota. Still expecting a tough fight up there.

    Looking at the ISU depth chart, they only lose four guys off this defense, so they should be even better next year. Based on what Lester has done vs ISU so far it looks like it will be up to the defense to try to win it next year.

    Lack of National Respect/Attention

    Until Vanderbilt, it had been quite awhile since Iowa had beaten a ranked team. Iowa has lost three of the last four to their in state rival. No Bigten championship in forever. There’s respect for Iowa out there for what they are but there’s a ceiling to that respect based on results.

    No. There’s only a limit in direct payment from a school. It’s right around your number and it’s a cap on the total for all sports, I believe. As Iowa likely uses that money for more than football, I would guess the school contributes 12-14 million to the football team, though I’m not clear on...

    No one really knows what team payroll numbers are but Google told me that SMU has a payroll around 22 million and they do it with no ACC TV payout. Once that kicks in they should be in the top tier of team payrolls.

    DT will remain a question mark until they face Michigan ( I’m hoping ISU doesn’t challenge them). QB a question mark until we see how they do under pressure. Still a bit concerned about placekicker

    I was hopeful about QB and, I guess, we still don’t know for sure. It does seem though that we are stuck with Wake forest and Auburn cast offs. I was hoping for more but factually it is far more likely Iowa will be near the bottom of the league in QB play.

    Perhaps that’s one reason why this type of offense is uncommon in college.
