How Much Difference Would Baxter Have Made?

A fully health CJ Baxter would've been a night and day difference for this offense. Not only is he the prime power running back, he's by far the best blocking out of the backfield, and reliable safety valve as a receiver. Baxter in the game means Minchey is not getting sacked and pressured so...

FB: OKLAHOMA GAME WEEK - BY THE NUMBERS

Keys: Turnovers - Minchey keep making good decisions, backs and returners protect the ball, and opportunistic defense ... if all of these work out and we're +2 or better in turnover margin, that's a big boost to our chances of winning Big Plays - Kentucky needs probably three explosive scoring...

FB: OKLAHOMA GAME WEEK - BY THE NUMBERS

I'm more concerned about being able to defend 3rd down. We average 5 more first downs per game than OU, despite our struggles on 3rd down. So we're getting more quick first downs or more opportunities.

    No panic here

Going into SEC play my expectation was 11-7 in conference. After 5 games I think 12-6 with a 9-9 floor and 14-4 ceiling. No panic here

First Cal era like game under Pope

I don’t believe that coaches need to put players on blast in public, but one of my very few concerns with CMP is whether he’s too close to his players. There’s a reason bosses don’t typically socialize with their subordinates, and officers don’t fraternize with enlisted… it puts good order and...

    Only Pope and Rupp

Some more context? I assume this means first to top 10 opponents as head coach at Kentucky.

    Worse than Cal

At least 10 of those “likes” are laugh reacts and I’m guessing most of those are laughing at this post, not at CMP and the Cats

Stats: Scoring 100 in a game

Rupp’s teams scored 100+ 103 times and 80 times in his last 10 seasons, and never had a shot clock or a 3 point line.

******Game Thread GA ST vs UK********

I say the offense worked how it’s supposed to… when we’re not making 3s we beat them inside the arc. On the season we take 44% of our shots from 3 point range and make 40% (.399) and we shoot 58% (.585) inside the arc. That means a 3 point shot is more efficient than a 2 point shot (1.197 vs...

For you old timers, Whatever happened to Larry Johnson who played PG for us from 1973-1977

Larry Johnson was a good player. I think he's not as well remembered as other players from that era because he was the only starter on that squad to never win an NCAA title. He was one of just two scholarship seniors on that team (Merion Haskins was the other) so he missed the 1978...

    Old timers

These guys were a little before my time, but I know the names... I just turned 11 when the Cats beat Duke in St. Louis in 78 ... learned to hate UNC and Dean Smith in 77... went to my first game in 76 in Memorial and wondered why the fans kept booing one of our players until my Dad explained...

    UK avg 101.5 ppg

I like the start. I hope this season doesn’t end up as mediocre and disappointing. I definitely think we have the talent, depth, and coaching (no knock on CJBH) to be successful but their first real test is coming up.
