Nominate: Week 7 IHSA Football Head Coach of the Week?

Josh Miller of South Fulton. The Rebels are 6-1! They've not made the playoffs since 2104. Havent won 6 games in a season since that same year. They'd only won 16 games total in the previous six years with Miller as Head Coach.

I was very high on Nashville preseason, had them 8th in 2A, and still believe in them as both losses are to undefeated teams in Carterville and West Frankfort. Week 8 against DuQuoin will be telling of how far the Hornets can go come playoff time in my opinion.

Big shoutout to Anna-Jonesboro who ended a 24 game losing streak by beating Pinckneyville 54-29. Coach Dallas and the Wildcats last win before last night was Week 8 of 2023 when they beat the Redbirds of West Frankfort 34-22.

Lena-Winslow only beating Fulton 22-14 surprised me. The Steamers are much improved, but after seeing what Stockton did to Fulton the previous week I figured it would be a similar result.

    Playoff un-expansion

I thought it was due to travel concerns and fuel costs? They made the switch for 7A/8A as most of those schools are near Chicagoland, whereas in 1-32 in 2A you could realistically have teams like Eastland-Pearl City playing Sparta or Durand-Pecatonica playing Johnston City. Those would be some...

ADs or Principals need to get 1-32 for all classes on a proposal to the IHSA.

While smaller in enrollment, the top tier of the WIVC is much better overall than the top tier of the BDC historically in the playoffs. Camp Point Central Calhoun Brown County Greenfield-Northwestern Carrollton Or Johnston City Fairfield Flora Sesser-Valier-Waltonville Carmi-White County...

Black Diamond has some quality teams in Johnston City, Flora, and Fairfield. The issue is the closed conference, which IMO, kills them come playoff time. A few non-conference games would be beneficial. Going 7-2, with two quality losses against higher quality opponents would be better than going...

Coach Jefferson is one of the best in the Lincoln Prairie. Their run last fall was the best since he took over back in 2018 as they went 12-1 losing in the 2A Semifinals. Big game this week versus Sullivan. Back to their conference though, while not having tremendous playoff success, it still...
