In hindsight, it's funny that we expected big things when we lost guys to Texas, Virginia, Georgia Tech, etc. and replaced them with guys from South Dakota, Rice, and Toledo.
This certainly puts the last week or so into perspective. Coach seems like a great man who knows how to pick lovable players. No matter the past 3 years (and whatever happens in the future) he did awesome things here.
I'm curious how we will view this game in 5 years. Maybe it was necessary. It at least opens the door to ripping the band aid off now as opposed to convincing ourselves that 4 or 5 win seasons are acceptable.
I think Buchanan, Francis, Davis, and Ware are what they are. Mark and Powers seem like the 2 guys that can really take their games to another level. I'll give the edge to Powers.
It always irks me when guys play 5 games and lose their redshirt year. I know there is talk about going to a 5 year plan, so it may become moot. Still, just seems pointless for guys like Archie and McCleary (and costly for them).
I'm assuming Gotterup is a lock for the Presidents Cup team as long as he doesn't implode this summer. Such an impressive climb over the past 5 or so years. He's got such a unique game with the open stance and his general swing pattern. I'd duff every shot if I tried that lol.
They're diluting the golden goose. March madness is arguably the best sports event in the world. Adding games only makes it more confusing, will take away the energy from the Thursday-Sunday games, and just adds a bunch of mediocre teams that, in this transfer portal area, probably have their...
Forget about NIL, transfer portal, etc., I think this program is just not built to survive a Chris Ash era. That destroyed any momentum with fringe fans and killed all the Big 10 hype.
Going a bit off-topic, but our AD needs to keep an eye on the Merrimack coach. He's had at least 3 players crush it there as underclassmen before moving up. Impressive stuff for a program that wasn't even eligible for the tournament for a few years.
If he finds the right situation I could see him having an NFL career. I thought he did a great job considering he only played about 17 games at tight end.
