Women's Hoops Rutgers Women's Basketball downs La Salle for second straight win

Choppy and chippy game. Lots of players in foul trouble. Desdunes had some freshmen turnovers. Thomas looked unguardable in the third quarter for a bit. Mia Pauldo had some spectacular finishes and passes. Team is definitely still gelling, but they play very hard.

    WBB Summer Workouts Thread

I will say the energy and vibes feel like a 180 with Coach Redus and team. The social media engagement--particularly with recruits--feel young, fun, and of the time. A VERY nice touch also having some of RU's biggest supporters (and funders) at practice, and giving them shine on social...

    C. Vivian Stringer Receives WBCA Betty F. Jaynes Lifetime Achievement Award

Now, when it comes to the end of her career, a few things can be true. And while I'm not an expert on how things went down, it's fair to say she hung on too long. Her "motives" behind that are certainly up for debate, and you can make kind or unkind assumptions there. But I think it's important...

    C. Vivian Stringer Receives WBCA Betty F. Jaynes Lifetime Achievement Award

I don't think folks are necessarily interested in engaging in a real conversation here, but to start: This is a LIFETIME achievement award. Anyone who doesn't think CVS is worthy of a lifetime achievement award for her role in WCBB is not serious. Stringer is the first coach in NCAA history...

Women's Hoops Rutgers Women's Basketball adds Bucknell transfer Hope Masonius

Alas, huge roster turnover is fairly typical in the new NIL/no penalty transfer environment. The biggest adjustment will be everyone is dealing with a brand new coaching staff--but that should make the season fun!

    Roster Error

I actually think this is pretty typical in between seasons. They take out the folks who graduated/transferred, but don't add the new folks until they get them in for photos in the fall.

Women's Hoops Rutgers Women's Basketball adds Bucknell transfer Hope Masonius

Yes to all that; and being intentional about making the team Jersey forward. There will now be SIX Jersey girls on the team next year: Mia and Mya Pauldo Deja Young Precious Gem Wheeler Tara Daye Hope Masonius Plus Lauryn Swann is from Queens.

    Okay, so how . . . .

Update: I am very impressed with how quickly Gary Redus and team have moved. he was hired less than two months ago (March 9) and since then, he has: Filled out his coaching staff Signed a top 60 recruit for the upcoming year (Chikae Desdunes) Retained 5 players from last year's team...

    Depth Chart for next season

Updated with addition of Tara Daye: PG: Mia Pauldo // Mya Pauldo // Deja Young SG: Tara Daye // Lauryn Swann // Chikae Desdunes // Kennedy Brandt SF: Jaylah Lampley // Zachara Perkins PF: Zennia Thomas // Imani Lester // Precious Gem Wheeler // C: Fatima Diakhate // Mary Akinde

    Depth Chart for next season

Agree on Lester, and could see Perkins getting time at the 4 too. We'll see how "raw" Mary Akinde is, but my assumption is she's a depth piece for the upcoming year. With our 2 roster spots left, if we are still looking for players, I'd prioritize 3-pt shooting. Lampley was pretty good last...

    Depth Chart for next season

Thinking about what it could look like next year, now that roster is near (?) complete: PG: Mia Pauldo // Mya Pauldo // Deja Young SG: Lauryn Swann // Chikae Desdunes // Kennedy Brandt SF: Jaylah Lampley // Zachara Perkins PF: Zennia Thomas // Imani Lester // Precious Gem Wheeler // C...

Women's Hoops Rutgers Women's Basketball lands Pitt transfer Fatima Diakhate

Another very solid pickup at a place we need depth.

    Okay, so how . . . .

I think folks should be pretty happy. I'd give a grade of an A-/B+: The Pauldo twins are big gets for a few reasons: Mia was a top 10 recruit last year and has proven she can start in the SEC. Plus, they are Jersey products whose family does a lot with basketball in the state--will hopefully...

Women's Hoops Rutgers Women's Basketball lands Howard transfer Zennia Thomas

We needed more rebounders so this is a hopeful get.

    Current 26/27 roster...

With 4 scholarships still available, intrigued by who else the staff is targeting. From depth perspective, would think you'd want at least 1-2 more players on the team.
