You're correct on what would have been a normal day - however that evening KC was in the middle of a huge blizzard that both delayed tip off and also made a 20 min Uber take close to an hour. Agree on the later half of that timeline though. Which is why 5 players are listed as witnesses.

KU had a game that night in Kansas City vs. Davidson. I was at the game and didn't get home until 11pm and I live in KC. So they wouldn't have arrived back in Lawrence until closer to midnight.
