Beyond happy Argentina won. I've wished nothing but ill will towards England since I found out those sick fvcks eat beans and tomatoes for breakfast.

England going to the soccer equivalent of "prevent defense" (subbing in cornerbacks, packing themselves back into their own third) at the 60th minute was sofa king dumb.

They deserve to lose if it happens.
You called it!

Eustaqio’s winning goal to put them in the Round of 16 gives MLS players yet another massive goal in this tournament, to go along with: Musa equalizer vs England, Galarza game winner vs Turkey, Surman equalizer vs Egypt, Berhalter equalizer vs Turkey, Shaffelburg against Qatar, and Messi scoring on everyone in bunches for the Golden Boot lead. FOX, Apple TV, and league owners have to be loving this year’s tournament.

Also, @jaxhawk: Making any extra trips out to Soldier Field this summer 👀?

Lol, I was going to tonight's game and stupid Canada had to bring their wildfire smoke here and postpone the game

I was in Chicago seeing family, but was going to pass because of the smoke. I don’t mind because I would like to see Lewandowski get more practice reps before our first match.

USL Miami FC at Tampa Bay Rowdies, a week from Saturday, 7/25. That will be my first in-person soccer game since watching a sorority intramural game at FSU in 1988 or so.
I believe Miami FC have Curaçao’s hero goalkeeper that helped them to their first World Cup, Eloy Room. The guy just broke the World Cup regulation saves record in a shutout against Ecuador. I could see him being gone soon. And they have the Curaçao winger, Curtis Jorgensen. I love how they have turned that ballpark into a soccer stadium. Hope you have a good time!

U.S. Soccer is exploring a complete overhaul of the youth soccer system amid renewed scrutiny of pay-to-play following the USMNT's Round of 16 World Cup exit — with the goal of making the game more accessible and affordable 🇺🇸⚽️

U.S. Soccer COO Dan Helfrich: “We are not seeking to make the current system more affordable. We’re trying to create a new system that then we make highly affordable. It’s a really important distinction.”

Arsène Wenger, speaking alongside Helfrich at U.S. Soccer’s headquarters outside Atlanta: “From outside, I felt that people from a poor background had no access to the game. That is quite a big part of the population that usually in Europe, the best football players come from poor backgrounds. We want maybe a job to do as well to make it possible and available for everybody and after to be consistent because it’s not a short-term fix.”

The discussion centered on how the federation can continue growing the sport after what U.S. Soccer CEO JT Batson called an “incredibly successful” World Cup that “has fundamentally changed the trajectory of the sport in the United States.”

Honestly there is a part of this that makes me wonder whether I should have more respect for France not giving a **** for a third place game.

The French appears to be in full retreat. Who saw that coming? 😂
