“Pope, he gave his vision to Mark,” he said. “But not only that, just the confidence and assuring him that he will leave his program a better player and a better man. My brother, he felt that. He felt the confidence in that. He felt it enough to make him comfortable saying he wanted to be a Kentucky Wildcat.”

But according some experts on Rafters it’s just all about the money?
UK’s bball prestige is no longer a factor.
Sounds like Cal could have gotten Mark?

An aside… get some Terrance Jones playing style vibes with Mitchell. And that’s a good thing.

Could have some similarity to our 2012 bunch in spots.

Zoom..Teague
Mitchell…Jones
Wilkins… Lamb (scorers but in a different way)

Davis MKG and Miller … no matches… but Soph Moreno and Milan, McBride, N’Diaye, Hawthorne, Noah, K Williams, Big Frank, Potter and M Williams combined add more depth, more size and scoring.

McBride … D Miller?

Just our 3starters in the front court could give us 40 pts and 20 rebounds/game. Nice start. Guards perhaps 20/game. Bench 15.
Very deep and versatile team. Get that defense clicking.

Looking forward to the season.
Think Pope has settled in. Very good roster.

Before Milan came on board, I was at ~15 losses next season. After Milan, I adjusted it to 11–12. Now, with Mitchell, and if Big Franck can stay healthy, this team can compete and make a Final Four!

it’s not that Michell is some generational talent, although he’s damn good, it’s that good/ great players like Momcilovic and Mitchell make the other players around them better, and sometimes overachieve.

This should be a legit 7-8 loss team now! Top 5-7 (maybe higher) team all season long!

From a shooting perspective definitely can compare Mom to Lamb. I like the Jones and Mitchell comparison. Obviously no one compares to Davis. That team hung its hat on defense and fast break points, I think this years team will probably try to outgun and outscore the other team, should be fun to watch.

Good call on Milan and Lamb! That might be a better comparison

Are you under the impression that he isn't getting paid a ton? Glad he's saying the right things and does seem to like UK but it's not like the guy isn't getting a huge check.

Sure he’s getting paid. They all are. Are you saying his long term respect for UK’s bball excellence and prestige had nothing at all to do with his commitment?

I don’t think using Mitchell for your argument is best case here. Seems as soon as he became eligible, he had his eyes set on one school and and one school only. Was he supposed to come here and volunteer?

I think you have the process wrong. They have had NIL finished for forever, contingent on him becoming eligible.

It IS all about the money although people like to say it’s not about the money.

It very likely didn't have anything to do with the commitment. Do you not see how one recruit after another says the same ****? "dream school", "love their history". NONE of them EVER say "I want to graduate from UK". They're mercenaries.

Well let’s see what Mark says about the reasons he decided it was UK.

What 5 star basketball player is worried about graduating from the school? Basketball first academics probably 3-4 You can just get the degree later in life

I’d like the player to stay 4-5 years but they’re not thinking of it from a degree later in life standpoints

LOL, they're all coached nowadays to say the same thing. It's not going to be anything different. In fact, his dad's already echoed what are likely Mark's thoughts. There is no loyalty now.

Thanks. Comparable.

I believe TJ might be a bit more athletic - could handle the ball for a big guy- but both are true pfs. Good defensive guy. Really surprised he wasn’t in the NBA a long time.

Mark a better shooter and offensive player, passer and post up scorer.
A better high post fit for CMP as well.
I think he will be an improved rebounder and post defensive presence. Missouri was loaded in the front court with big bodies taking up space. One guy was like 7 5 260 plus several other big wide guys.
