Was Keyshawn Hall ever a take?

One would think our GM would have been the one to say Mitchell was not a take due to the strict SEC transfer rules (on top of the overall eligibility issue). Oh wait...we do not have an actual GM, because Pope does not think we need one. Ugh...

Yeah, taking Mitchell from Missouri was a mistake because of SEC conference affiliation. He should have taken Keyshaun Hall from Auburn. Brilliant call, anonymous X poster. ...Oh, wait a minute. Something sounds off about that...
The difference is that Hall DID properly enter the transfer portal before the deadline back in April. Mitchell did not.

This was my fear for awhile. Why risk taking a guy who was a long shot to be eligible, when really good options were available that had a better chance of playing. I was excited about Mitchell's potential to help lift us to another level next season, but always had a bad feeling about it.

The worst part is the the staff was saving the final spot specifically for these guys, and we somehow managed to end up with no one.

Hall could’ve had a negative impact on the team. He has been at so many schools and even got suspended last season at Auburn. I’d rather UK take the chances with the roster they have than add a guy that could be a locker room issue
Exactly my thoughts, I don't want to unfairly trash his character but I'd rather somebody else take a chance with him.

Hall was more of what we needed for Pope’s offense and this existing roster than Mitchell was. Whether we ever came close to having him in the bag I have no idea.

And this thread should end here.
Hall entered the portal in April, dummies. Mitchell was blocked by the SEC because of when he entered the portal.

To be fair I think Hall would definitely up our ceiling, but he is a team cancer imho and he could make it worse. I really didn’t want him. Don’t think Pope handles guys like him at all well.
Yeah I remember reading much about his character and it was bad

Sarkesian came out and said as much with football. You got these guys busting their *** for months, then you're going to bring in a guy off the street and say, you over there you're going to sit.

At this point in the recruiting cycle, roll with your team and get the most out of them. Still some very good players here - develop your 4. It all can't can't be a shiney diamond. The team is really good at the 1, 2, 3 and 5.

Wait, there are 4 people doing that job, and yet none of the 4 or the coach could understand the rules

Hall would have been a great add, but he couldn't have played either, could he?

We risked it because there was a pool of guys who came available late in the summer that no one knew whether they'd be eligible or not. That's why I and others pointed out that you should look at whoever was in the 15th spot as a bonus, not a necessity.

Clearly you don’t know the rules! Hall did enter the portal and could have transferred to UK. Just as Aberdeen did by going from KY to FL.

Please quit acting like you know everything

Yeah, you pining for Hall makes us the dummies. Gotcha.
Never pined for Hall, he wasn't one I wanted to take. You're embarrassing yourself lashing out because you were smug and wrong at the same time and got called out on your mistake.

I did make the mistake, but the sentiment remains. The thread should have ended there. But, prediction? It will keep going for ridiculous reasons by posters who call others “dummies” or similar jabs.

I thought that Pope had already had his hand bitten by the not taking the sure thing with the whole Stokes thing. You take the sure thing over a maybe if there's any major doubt. If the path is open for Mitchell sure but when you know you're going into a uphill battle pushing a heavy cart at best maybe it's better to take the safer bet doesn't matter if mitchell is a little better than Hall, if you end up with neither. And with the way Mark has been bitten I'm surprised he fell for it again.

You go after players you want. You have a good chemistry. That needs to be maintained. Going for anything that seems attainable sure does not ring as smart.
