Without Mitchell, I’m still a proud fan and think Pope does well this year.

You all get too caught up on the numbers and rankings and not trust your own judgement.

We have 2 high level, capable guys at the 4. McBride and N’Diaye.

Weak minded, fair weather “fans” are everywhere and always has been. Don’t let them 💩 on this season before it starts.

We are still a final four contender without Mitchell.🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm with you. Hope for the best until proven otherwise. Knee jerk reactions for those who are looking for failure seems to be the norm now.

If he fails this year, it will be time to call it however imo.

Calling McBride and N’Diaye “high‑level 4s” is like calling a Honda Civic and a pogo stick “two elite off‑road vehicles.” Technically you can say it, but everyone knows you’re just trying to make the roster sound better. Those two are gonna get man-handled in the SEC.

Mitchell's number and ranking meant a little more than a freshman coming in with five stars and hype. He was proven. He kicked our *** last year. We know he is good and what he was capable of.

Of course you hope for the best if you're a fan but I'm hoping we get back to being good and knowing it. Hoping for the best going on year three is kind of crazy at a school like UK.

The SEC never puts basketball first but Kentucky always did. I thought so anyway.

I think we should start giving recruits 1996 tahoes just to remind them of how it was when Pope played here.

I don't see McBride getting manhandled physically. But idk how good of a basketball player he is. I like him tho. He looks tough.

No. But weak minded and fair weather because you will not wait until the games play out. That's all I would expect from a fan. If the season is crap, then piss and moan and demand that the coach is replaced...but to not even get on board for the season...well, that is why you are described as above.

(Not you personally, just those who fit the question. But if you do, you do.)

No because you constantly look for reasons to 💩 on our team and coach. Low IQ as well because you listen to analysts instead of making your own assessment. Hope this helps! 😆

You don't have to listen to an analyst to realize that defense, rebounding, and the 4 spot are a huge concern. You don't have to listen to an analyst to look at the amount of superior rosters that are in the SEC. You also don't have to listen to an analyst to be concerned because the head coach is on the hot seat.

...but maybe you see none of this and that makes you high IQ, strong minded, and more of a fan.

To be honest, all of those are legit concerns...but not to the point they have to be shouted daily in every thread since last season. It really is a dead horse.

One can realize that there are concerns about the team and or coach...and still watch the season unfold and try and enjoy the journey. THEN be critical if warranted.

OR, be miserable all the time, and post the exact same stuff continuously. It changes nothing.

Also Dr. Luther, I am only posting this as an answer to the question you posed above. It is not an attack on you.

So are we as fans not allowed to look at the roster and question or have the belief it won't be very good? I think, minus Mitchell, this is a fringe T25 roster and team. I think the most likely scenario is we lose 10-14 games and make the tourney and win a game or two. It's a middle 1/3 SEC team and a team that won't make the weekend of the SECT. Is that weak minded? I could very well be wrong and the team could be better. Or I could be dead on balls accurate. It's not a complaint, it's just where I think this team is.

I get excited for every single game. Have the last two seasons even though I don't think Pope deserved the job and don't think he's done anything to prove he deserves it. But man, I still get pumped and excited for every single game (okay, okay...lesser so for those crappy non-con home games). I'm just able to be objective about the coach and the teams he's assembled. My loyalty is to the University of Kentucky, not Mark Pope or whoever the coach is. I freaking loved Cal, and was critical as anyone about his last two seasons. Personally, I think those who spew sunshine when we can all see the clouds are the weak minded ones.

No one is saying that. It was asked why some could be considered weak minded and fair weather. I responded that "I" thought that those could be considered that when they post daily in nearly every thread (no matter the subject) the same stuff they have posted over and over.

It is ok to have concerns about coaching and the team, but at this point, the ones who are considered weak minded and fair weather, that is all they post. It changes nothing.

It is ok to let the games play out, THEN slam as appropriate.

Pick a thread, if one is objective...it can be seen.

I will stick with 22-10, 11-7, 4 or 5 seed, Sweet 16 finish, hoping that they do better, of course, while recognizing that they could do worse.

McBride would start for 90% of other teams.

N’Diaye is better than people think.

Quit listening to the talking heads who hate UK and do your own thinking and assessment.

20 years ago, we had the most knowledgeable fanbase. Now, especially after Cal, it’s all about what other men like Goodman thinks instead of being knowledgeable about the game yourself.

I can’t wait til that doofus of a coach is gone. Mark Pope is the worst coach in UK basketball history just as bad as Joker Phillips in football.

Is it okay to wax poetically or pump sunshine as often as one sees fit? Somewhat rhetorical. My issue is, there are a few that just pump away and put their head in the sand. This is the flip side to that I suppose. I get it. I'm in this place most people are, I think. W/o Mitchell this team is just going to be okay. I'm tired of hearing of how good some guy who's never done it at this level is going to be. For every Wall and Davis I can raise you a Skal and Justin Edwards. Then again, I could take some sage advice and let it all play out, huh? Maybe those are wise words you speak!

Yes...with that 90% being all the mid to low majors and average to below-average teams in power conferences. That still doesn't mean he's any good. There are something like 380 DI teams. I'd like to be better than 38th (90th percentile).

N’Diaye is better than people think.
Why? Because you saw him practice with the rest of this roster? Or is it just because you say it? I should believe UK4Life#9 over basketball analysts? Interesting thought. Hell, you all could be wrong.

Dude, you can be snarky if you wish. No big deal. You say you are a high school coach. I would hope that you aren't as always negative with your players.

If you want to go into the season/every game with no hope/super pessimism go right ahead. But repeatedly posting it in almost every thread does not make you anything but what was mentioned above. You aren't accomplishing anything except to be able to say you were right if the season does go bad. But, if there is no enjoyment in it, nothing but doom and gloom, why even watch? Unless your enjoyment only comes with the aggravating of others. This paragraph is not personally at you, Eagles_Ball, but the mindset of those who are constantly saying the same thing over and over.

I don't go out pumping sunshine, I just question why the negativity can't wait until games/this season are actually lost?

That guy has never touched a basketball before, let alone being an actual basketball coach. I also have him on ignore and can’t see what he said but he’s clearly not playing with a full deck.

My bad...I honestly wasn't being snarky. I was legit telling myself I should probably take your advice and let it all play out. Sorry if I didn't convey that well. As my wife often tells me, I don’t word well. That reply to you was more of a stream of thought than being a smart a$$.

FWIW...I didn't have you as a pumper. Again, somewhat rhetorical. You seem to be pretty much in the middle with a wait and see approach. Honestly, it's a reasonable place to be. I'd say I would be there if the coach we hired had a resume suited for the job when we hired him. I'm there, just lack the patience. And FTR, that's a me problem.

No problem. I too sometimes come across not as I intended. In real life too.

I figure that there will be plenty of time to be angry if games are lost. If enough are lost, then a change will be made. I just find it hard to fathom to be so incensed about something that hasn't happened and could possibly not happen. The team and coach have flaws, but they can be overcome. Will they, is the the question. I do believe that personally, if it gets to the point I am angry before the games are even played, then it will be time to check out.

I agree that Coach doesn't have the resume for this job when hired...but that was on Mitch. I can't be mad at the Coach for taking his dream job, but if he doesn't get the job done, I will be ready to move on. Just think all things considered, it is still early...but it is getting late.

No you're just a liar. How are McBride and Ousmane "high level players at the 4?" They're not. They are role players. They would both be 3rd strings at Duke and now are our starters. Stop always lying about everything. You people are so annoying. Anytime someone speaks "oH yOu ArE sO NeGaTiVe." No you're just on a sinking ship and everyone is trying to point out the massive hole and massive amounts of water pouring in. Toxic positivity is so annoying.
Yeah. How dare someone have an optimistic outlook! Anyone with a different opinion than you is obviously a "liar."

Optimism and realism are not the same team. Pope haters, Pope pumpers, and everyone on this board would be super happy if this team is better than we think, but there is zero evidence that guys at mid majors or lesser D-1 programs are gonna come in here and be as good as Duke and Florida and UCONN like pumpers seem to think.
