The controversy over college football teams adding NFL players is over, at least for now. The LSU Tigers have officially closed the door on adding former NFL players Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris to the roster, instead giving the last two roster spots to other players, report Pete Nakos and Wilson Alexander of On3.

Thanks. Well In that case IDK why they think they should be eligible if they signed a pro contract.

Even if they would make four times as much in college lol. Rules are rules. I'm not a rule person myself. I'm all for the wild wild West. But yea there's a big difference between signing a contract and not.

I feel like Kiffin trolled but kind of did what nobody has done thus far into the new semi pro era of college sports.

He forced a governing body to come out and draw a hard line in the sand.

Kind of like Enes Kanter trolling the WNBA.

Now we all know at least one rule that everyone has to play by. No pros.

Accepting money was supposed to end your eligibility too. If we are selling college athletes to the highest bidder, then what's the difference?

I like the SEC getting puffy and acting badass with LSU. I think there was a chance that 11 schools said “Go Away” and then immediately courted Notre Dame or Clemson or some other revenue generator.

That's true. I actually take it back to the academic scandal at UNC when the NCAA basically said that universities had the right to be diploma mills without any real academic oversight. UNC was running a semi-pro team then. Now we are all running pro teams. It is now a matter of who is eligible so the NCAA can say that they are an organization of "student-athletes."

I just wish we could stop selling players to the highest bidder, and go back to playing college sports.

NIL was created to give players a cut of the money being made by schools selling merchandise with their name or face on it. I don't know how it got twisted into this mess we have now.

Because it was always about being allowed to pay guys under the guise of this nonsense. If they would have just allowed them a cut of video game and jersey sales back in the 1980’s and 90’s we may not be in this spot right now. They should have given them a small % of revenue so they had some ammo for court. They hung into the student athlete nonsense as long as they could and now we have this massive clusterf@ck.

Schools would’ve gotten sneaky and just quit printing names and faces on things.

All the fuss was easily avoidable by allowing players to make money off field.

NCAA/conferences/schools tried ruling players lives outside the arena. That’s the original sin of it all.

If pizza joints, car dealerships, banks, etc want to pay kids, sports bodies and schools have no authority over that.
