From what I saw in the practice video Frank Kepnang had the purest 3pt. shooting form of any of the Bigs – and I think maybe even better than N’diaye and McBride. I was very surprised by that. I expected Amari Williams’ bad. Instead, I saw a quick smooth confident release with not a lot of moving parts.
Moreno again had the worst form, in my opinion, in regard to having any consistency. Of course, shooting form alone does not guarantee accuracy, but I think it’s pretty big part of the equation for consistency purposes. A player like Moreno may be able to practice so much that he becomes ok from distance despite the form, but I think the form likely puts a lower ceiling on his accuracy.
So, the questions that come to my mind are: (1) how long has Kepnang had both this current form and seeming confidence shooting 3-pointers; and (2) if he had this in the past why didn’t he actually shoot some 3s – was it him, was it what the coach dictated, of was what we saw in the practice video a mirage?
