This guy has just come into the biggest dumpster fire in the SEC and fielded a football team that should be pretty competitive in year one.

This team in the ACC wins 8/9 games this year. Give him time. By year three he will have enough recruits and transfers that the depth will be there to hang around. That’s all it was today, our guys were gassed because they never came off the field. He will also have time to develop his own qb and make something happen.

This product is so much better than that joke stoops ever produced. Overall I’m impressed with Stein in his second game ever as head coach and look forward to the future.

As always, it could be worse. You could be a Louisville or Tennessee fan. Imagine how miserable your existence would be drinking crown Royale at 8AM or having the color orange in your wardrobe.

You had me until that garbage about Stoops in the middle. No idea why our fans ridicule the ONLY coach who has even managed to finish a single season with a winning record in the SEC for the last forty years!

FORTY YEARS! And he did it twice! No one else did it AT ALL!
Thinking like this is exactly why we’ve sucked for long. What would be a complete failure at other schools was celebrated here. No excuses. F^*% Stoops.

Thinking has nothing to do with it. We thought our way out of the best coach in my lifetime and now we are trying to think the next coach off a cliff before he’s had a chance to start. Nah, people need to start including facts into their thinking. Stein needs some runway and some time. And realistic expectations to accompany both of those. The bandwagoners that showed up within the last ten years to demand a top ten program with no basis have no shame. Rational fans literally begging the administration and fans to stop with their stupidity torches and wild dreams but NO…the grass is always greener every time until it’s not. And who cares, right? Some of these same people didn’t go through years of terrible football only to watch us run off the BEST coach we have had. Yeah it upsets me, frankly. And now some of you are gonna do the same to the next guy before he’s even has a chance.

Perhaps. I dont have the facts to say it was or wasn’t. Even so, unless you can name anyone else who did it at Kentucky in the last forty years, the point stands. Stoops deserved better —

Or maybe you’d rather talk about overall winning percentages. Stoops is also the ONLY coach in the last forty years at Kentucky to win more games than they lost. Yep, you read that right — literally EVERY other coach had a negative W/L record other than Stoops. And we fired the guy! Our fans listen too much to people like Nick Roush and Matt Jones instead of paying attention to history.

Stoops 50.6%
Claiborne 47.2%
Brooks 45.3%
Mumme 43.5%
Morriss 39.1%
Phillips 35.1%
Curry 33.3%

Stoops was the skinniest fat kid. Caliborne played in a much harder SEC, and actually won it in 1977.

Much harder SEC? From 1982-89, of the 90 games JC coached in, only 24 of those were against ranked teams. JC went 2-22 in those games. Roughly 30% of Stoops’s games as Kentucky HC were versus ranked teams. He went 14-34 in those games. That’s 8.3% versus 29.2% in games versus ranked teams. Stoops played better competition more frequently and won far more often.

Claiborne wasn’t even coach in 1977. That was Curci — and the fact that you’re having to reach back to a time well before you were born to outperform Stoops tells the whole story of what I’m saying to start with.

Well, this is just NOT true. The best Stoops years were absolutely better than this.

This might shock some folks who ain’t well versed in UK history, but the Stoops era largely represents damn good times compared to UK’s historical average. He gave us a sustained stretch of winning seasons that has rarely happened before in our history (except, of course, for the Bear Bryant years).

I hope and expect for Stein to exceed Stoops. But, unlike some here, I’m not gonna falsely claim it true before it actually is true. He’s gonna have to prove it first.

Stoops gave us a few memorable seasons. Will always be grateful for that. But he quit the last few years and was never getting us over the hump. Time for us all - especially you - to move on.

Stoops was a very good coach. We were far from a dumpster fire.. We had a couple tough seasons, but we almost beat Texas last year. Honestly, I didn’t see much difference or offense was sputtering. Quarterback was trying to manage the game as the whole game plan was to kill Clock just like stoops just manage the game and play ball possession. Alabama is not a good team. I thought minchey was supposed to be big-time. He looks exactly like what he is Back Up at A playoff school. Probably hit or miss each game.

No, it’s not true. You have to recognize the success you find. In UK footballs had better success than ever stoops left us on an upward trajectory. I mean, like I said lotta games last year could’ve gone either way.

I don’t think that’s accurate at all. SEC when there’s 4 team playoff the SEC had two teams seem like every season in the last four. Stoops from the beginning, came in with that ball control stuff and his teams executed his game plan if he had an offensive coordinator committed to our program for 3 to 5 years that would’ve been awesome. But I think that Con screwed him should’ve never brought.Coen back into the mix. It should’ve been evident to stoops that Liam was on the fast track to NFL head coach.. bottom line is stoops did a fine job.

The thing I love about this new guy it’s a lot. I don’t like like having played at Louisville. But the dude can bring alcohol sneak it in scream obscenities at bama. I love that attitude and the thing I love most about it is knowing it that clown Barnhart hired this guy and he’s probably he was probably vomiting when he heard things this guy said.

Because we weren't "ponying up", the Texas board is free to join, you can celebrate Stoops and Co's big win tonight against Ohio state.
Yep. Don’t agree with your irrational hating of Stoops so you resort to cheap insults like telling me I don’t belong here and go to the Texas boards? Nah, man… how about the malcontent bandwagoners go to the Indiana, Ohio State or Georgia boards!? Then, you can go have that top 5 program that you guys keep demanding with ZERO legitimate basis for and can stop RUINING Kentucky football. How about that!?

Again, you had your chance earlier to tell me anyone who did more than Stoops in the last 40 years and the best you could give me was THE WRONG COACH from a season 49 years ago! And you made a false claim about schedule difficulty that took less than 2 seconds of a Google search to debunk.

Support Stein better than y’all did Stoops and start respecting what our coaches did here or zip it as far as I’m concerned.

I agree we would probably win 8 in the ACC. Sadly we aren’t in the ACC. I am behind him but it’s gonna take time to get the talent and depth we need to win in the big leagues. Hopefully he gets it done because I do really like him.

Loved Stoops, he just should have called it quits after 2021. The ride was over and he took us as far as he could. If we replaced him with a Stein around that time we would be really solid by now.

Not even remotely close to the “complete dumpster fire” that Joker Phillips left for Stoops. And back then coaches did not have a transfer portal that enabled them to completely re-do their roster really fast like they do now. Stoops had to rebuild slowly and gradually the old-fashioned way.

I’ve noticed you have a clear agenda to build up Stein and tear down Stoops. Which is fine, we should all support the new coach. But there’s no need to be dishonest in doing so. The truth: Stein hasn’t proven anything yet, and the Stoops era was far better than you make it sound …in fact, compared to UK’s historical average, some of the best times in the program’s entire history.

Some of the crap I read tonight is rediculous.Heres reality. UK hasn't won an SEC home game in 3 years. Somehow some of our delusional fans think a new head coach in the first big game as coach, with a new team and a green QB was going to beat Alsbama. An Alabama team with one of the best defenses in the country and one of the favorites to win the SEC.Not only that but a few are questioning if Stein was the right hire because we lost. What are you people going to say when we lose 7 or 8 games
Anybody with a brain could have told you his team would struggle this year. Give the guy a break. Rome wasn't built in a day and an SEC contender will not either. Some of our fans need to grow up.

We are 14-26 in the SEC the past five seasons. And yes I even counted the 2021 vacated season. To me that is a dumpster fire considering we had a coach the administration felt like was worth $9 million when other coaches making a whole lot less are winning national championships

Folks were not to the point in the WS era where we start judging things based on performance vs Alabama.

SC, FLA, Vandy, Missouri, UL

Got to look very good in all of those and win 3-4 of em.

Blow out the other OOC

Look better vs the other big dogs and surprise one of them.

Everyone chill out. We got new coaches and a new QB who’ve never been in this league.
